"Dayne was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with our fence quote. He answered all of my questions regarding budget, warranty, and turn around time. We’ve received a few quotes now, but Ergeon is the most affordable. Hopefully our neighbors agree and we get this done. Thanks again Dayne!"

"I am very pleased with the California Vinyl Fence team, Randy, Cesar, Daniel & Nathan. They are top notch team. They showed up on time, as scheduled, went right to work. No fuzz, hesitation nor noise they all showed their professional conduct at all times. Each one of them knew exactly what to do. They finished the job in 2 days. No mess, the result is much better than what I expected. Ken (sales), honest, straight forward. I would highly recommend this guys, as I have already to some of my friends. Very pleased customers, Teddy & Lanni"

"Nice people, they claim to give a lifetime warranty including resealing seems or any problem at all. They showed up as scheduled, took a bit longer than expected. I was very happy with the way it looked when they were finished. Im still happy with the way it looks. After they left I noticed they had drilled a hole in my concrete walkway and pounded in rebar to mount a gate post but they didn’t plan it right and I believe they called the owner out who decided to put the post in a more suitable place. Unfortunately the cracked concrete with a flush cut piece off rusty rebar remains as an eyesore. After a month or two the gate post on the opposite side began pulling out of the stucco on the side of my garage. I took it apart to find they used cheep plastic anchors so i just went and replaced them with metal concrete anchors myself so its never coming out again. I figured despite the warranty id just get it done. Fast forward to present June 2019 and i noticed that 2 of the base plates of the fence are not fastened to the concrete on one end allowing them to swivel out of place when the neighbors gardener does yard work it pushes them out of place. I contacted Sonrise and was given a date two weeks away that they would show up but they could not give a time. Sounds stupid but fortunately I’m retired and can sit home all day waiting for them to show up because hey what else do i need to do right? never showed up. I emailed again and the Forman called and apologized said he’d be out the following Friday. Never called never showed up. I emailed again and its been a week and a half with no response. so much for that lifetime warranty. I am really happy with the way the fence looks but cutting corners on simple stuff has me a bit confused because when you say lifetime warranty to fix ANYTHING wrong. Well you’d expect no short cuts because then you’d have to come fix the problems ... Unless... you have no plans to fix anything at all. I don’t care to write a review like this but when you jerk a customer around then just ignore them what else is left to do?"

"We had called High 5 fencing to get a quote on a chain link fence repair and spoke directly to Santiago and he gave us a very fair quote and was even able to complete the repair the next day. We are very pleased with his promptness and his quality of work. He uses only the best quality products. He found several things wrong with our fence that had been installed by another company. He was very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. Would definitely recommend Santiago to others and will definitely use him again if we need any fence work done."

"Hector and his crew replaced a 20+ year old rotted wooden fence for my Mom. Everything was professionally done from the get-go! We received an on site estimate immediately and when we gave our approval the work was done the next week. There was a full crew constructing the new fence and the work was done efficiently and professionally. Very happy with the job!!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Split rail fencing is a type of post and rail fencing. Other post and rail fences include corral board and post and dowel. Post and rail fencing is the term used for any type of fence with vertical posts, horizontal rails, and nothing else (specifically excluding pickets). So, technically, a split rail fence is a post and rail fence.

Staining a fence is less expensive than painting a fence due to the cost of materials and the longevity of the finish. Stain not only lasts longer than paint without chipping or peeling, but you also won’t have to put in the extra time and cost to prime the surface first.

Yes, installing a picket fence is a manageable DIY project for homeowners with basic tools and some patience. The process involves marking the fence line, digging post holes, setting the posts, and attaching horizontal rails and pickets. However, precision is key to ensure the fence is straight and sturdy, which can be challenging for beginners. If the fence line is long, the ground is uneven, or you’re working with more complex materials like metal or composite, hiring a pro may be a better option.

A split rail fence is not typically considered among types of dog fencing. Many dogs are small enough to slip out between or under rails, and dangerous pests like coyotes can slip in. However, adding wire mesh to a split rail fence can add the security needed for dog safety without compromising the timeless look that makes the split rail style appealing.

Lattice should not touch the ground, as it creates a possibility for rot and a termite infestation. It’s best to leave a gap of 3 or 4 inches at the bottom for airflow and to keep the wood dry. You can add stones, bricks, or other decorative pieces to conceal the bottom of the lattice if desired.
