"Great experience! Gerry was really responsive and able to install our cabinets quickly. When our countertop guy came to install he said he rarely sees cabinets this level. Would highly recommend"

"It turned out well. I liked the fact that they were young people but very professional. It was a really good deal. It cost less than buying the stuff at Lowe's and paying someone to install it."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Both experiences were positive. All workers showed courtesy and respect. All work was professionally done. Each worker made a serious effort to do his work well. Our property was safe. At the end of each day work areas were cleaned prior to workers leaving. Acra's design center was inspiring. I chose to do much of the shopping from it. That extended the project of a kitchen renovation to a whole house experience! With the most recent project the sheet metal backing for a specific door and replacing wood molding meets the need to protect the area from further damage. We were pleased with all aspects of our experience!"

"This is a repeat hire for me. Jack & Tom of Barnett Woodworks are wonderful, professional & reliable. They custom built new, affordable cabinets for me. Brought samples of stains, designs. Even as little problems appeared in my older condo, they fixed these, even offering suggestions, so these could be easily addressed. If you desire perfection from workers that don't rush through projects to get them done, these gentlemen are amazing."

"Travis is very competent and skilled at many things that are quite distinct from one another as noted in the diversity of remodeling tasks he performed at our newly acquired home. Each sub-project involved work from the design stage to implementation. He worked closely with us from a distance since we wanted the remodeling completed before we moved. Although he would periodically get pulled away to handle the drywall business associated with his contract with Plumb Plumbing, it did not cause major delays. Each aspect of our work was also bid to others and Travis was always competitive. Most important, he is an excellent communicator-a rare quality in the construction and remodeling world. At least each week, if not more frequently, he called, texted or emailed updates, including photos of his work in progress. We developed a close working relationship and we trusted him thoroughly. We have considerable experience with residential and institutional construction, remodeling and interior design, so we tend to be very hands on. Travis always rose to the occasion, was never offended by suggestions or corrections, and was very responsive to our designs and needs.

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to save money and keep costs down when building an outdoor kitchen. Building on an existing patio can reduce the cost of a new foundation, especially if it's close to the house. You can also save on utility line installation by opting out of a sink and using a built-in propane or charcoal grill. If you have the skills, tackling parts of the project yourself—like building or finishing cabinets, installing fixtures, and constructing seating—can lead to significant savings. Reusing appliances you already have is another great way to cut costs. Finally, consider starting small with just the essential components and adding more features over time as your budget allows.

It depends on your carpentry skills and the type of cabinets you purchase. If you have a high level of skill, then it’s most likely going to cost less for you to build your own garage cabinets. It will take longer than purchasing pre-built cabinetry, but it will decrease your overall labor cost.

Buying a kitchen cabinet or finding an experienced cabinet maker is likely going to be your best option unless you have the necessary experience and woodworking skills. If you’re just replacing one cabinet base or one cabinet, making your own is entirely possible and more effective, assuming you have the right equipment.

The cost of bathroom cabinets is $550 on average. You could spend as low as $330 or as much as $42,000 or more, depending on the cabinet size and the type of cabinet you choose.

Stock bathroom cabinets are the most cost-effective option, ranging from $40 to $500 on average. Semi-custom bathroom cabinets range from about $500 to $800 per unit (without installation costs) and offer a wider variety of door and drawer styles than stock cabinets. Custom cabinets range from $700 to $1,000 or more per unit before installation costs.

The 1/3 rule is a design guideline used by interior designers and cabinet installers to select appropriately sized pulls for cabinets and drawers. The rule suggests that for a balanced and cohesive look, a cabinet pull should be approximately one-third the height of the cabinet door or one-third the width of the drawer face. This guideline helps create a symmetrical appearance because the human eye tends to follow the length of the pull across the cabinet face.

While the 1/3 rule is a helpful starting point, it is not the only option. If a measurement falls between available pull sizes, it's generally best to size up. For an ultra-contemporary aesthetic, you can also opt for full-width pulls that span the entire drawer.
