"This is a long overdue review of a great company. My husband and I hired American Abatement for mold remediation work from a roof leak that caused damage into an interior ceiling/wall/window area of a bedroom in our house in November 2017. We had just finished working with another mold remediation company for a separate, unrelated leak in our kitchen island, and while that company started out well, we almost fired them before they were done due to how unprofessional their workmanship and interaction was with us. That being said, when we had to find a new company for mold remediation in a bedroom, we called a lot of companies and asked a lot of questions. When I found American Abatement and spoke to David Smith, his overall demeanor was non-rushed, professional, respectful, and combined with his credentials, I felt positive about this company. He was able to get me a bid quickly, and his pricing was very reasonable, despite the fact it seemed many of his jobs listed on his website were with large companies and organizations. They even recommended saving the expense of not doing the mold testing other companies said to do after evaluating the small scope of the mold which was limited to the interior of the wall. Let me say that I honestly felt, after the unprofessional experience with the first mold remediation company, like my guardian angel had sent American Abatement to me. From day one on the job, every single person who came into our house to work on our job, from the foreman, to the mold remediation team, and then finally the crew that did the build back portion of the job - every single one of them was polite, respectful of our home environment, and professional. The job site was set up well with plastic protection on the flooring, and proper bio-hazard contamination containment and disposal of mold per industry standards. When the job was complete, the bedroom looked like new and all was left clean and no debris left on site. Would definitely recommend this company. Although my job was a small job, I was treated as if I was one of their large clients. Fantastic company."

Full service restoration company. Preferred contractor on most insurance companies. Silver City Restoration provides an exceptionally positive post-disaster reconstruction experience. This is accomplished by establishing a strong client-focused relationship; delivering contracting services that combine leading technology, outstanding craftsmanship and demonstrating a quality commitment for complete satisfaction in residential and commercial settings.

"This is a story sad but true of a company that has very good work but very bad business practices This begins in September of 2021 An estimator is sent to survey damage done by a roof leak due to a Solar installation On this visit, the estimator without authorization attempted to fix an issue The problem as was always suspected was part of a Solar panel installation and not even close to the problem area, again this was not authorized The estimator spent roughly 45 minutes for his activity and arrived late even though it was clearly communicated my sister-in-law worked nights and was asleep, there were 2 guests here, but they would authorize; this was presented as a favor - to attempt to stop further leakage Now to current time, on March 16th, 2022 I have resolved my roof issues with Reimagine Roofing - recommended Jim the representative for Silver City comes to inspect the work and close our business and I am presented with 2 invoices, 1 for the ceiling repair and 1 for what i have no idea It came to be that 1 as for the ceiling and 1 the additional charges were for the attempted unauthorized repair which didn’t do anything anyway Those charges were 586.46 - during an estimate appointment for insurance purposes this amounts to $13 a minute i will add that if you have any interaction them, they or their representative's do understand payment options using current electronic/computerized systems, like Zoelle or simple BillPay"

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

According to the National Cancer Institute, asbestos-related diseases can take anywhere from 10 to 40 years for symptoms to appear. The health risks increase with prolonged and heavier exposure. Risk factors also include:

  • Amount of exposure

  • Chemical makeup, size, and shape of the asbestos fibers

  • Length of time a person is exposed to asbestos

  • Genetic factors

  • Source of exposure (direct exposure or secondhand exposure from someone directly exposed)

Abatement focuses on immediate hazard control while remediation encompasses a comprehensive cleanup and long-term safety strategy. Abatement refers specifically to reducing or eliminating the immediate hazard by removing or encapsulating it. It’s a targeted approach aimed solely at controlling asbestos risks. Remediation is a broader term that involves the entire process of addressing contamination to restore a safe environment. Remediation can include abatement, decontamination, air quality testing, and post-cleanup monitoring.

In most cities, it isn’t legal to cover asbestos tile. This is because it’s difficult for the average homeowner to know if they’re causing fibers to become airborne. While there is a method of sealing the asbestos in place—called encapsulation—this needs to be done by a pro, and isn’t appropriate for all situations.

The presence of asbestos fibers in siding is a critical health concern, as they can be inhaled and lead to severe respiratory issues. Even if asbestos siding appears to be in good condition, it may become a danger if it deteriorates over time or is disturbed during a renovation project, as this can release airborne fibers. Exposure to these fibers is linked to life-threatening diseases like asbestosis, mesothelioma, and lung cancer.

Asbestos siding can be dangerous if disturbed because the material itself poses a health risk. Asbestos is one of the leading causes of lung cancer as it causes mesothelioma—an aggressive cancer. Asbestos can also cause irreversible damage to your lungs by creating a buildup of scar tissue, called asbestosis. It has a habit of making its way through even robust personal protective equipment (PPE), which is why it’s not recommended that you perform any asbestos work yourself.
