"I contacted Dennis at Elite Platinum Steam Cleaning about cleaning a large couch that has been in storage for quite some time. I was hoping to be able to get it professionally cleaned as soon as possible. He responded quickly and was able to get me scheduled in just a couple of days. He arrived on time, was very pleasant and did a fabulous job. The couch looks and smells amazing again! We even had a nice conversation after he finished about all of the reasons why we both left Minnesota for Tucson.? I would highly recommend Platinum Elite Steam Cleaning for all of your upholstery, carpet and rug steam cleaning needs."

"We actually had three (very friendly, cheerful) guys who did a great job. They arrived on time, were in and out in less than an hour and left our windows sparkling clean. The price was very reasonable, especially with the Angie’s List coupon. Over the last few years, other companies I’ve hired for window cleaning are now sending only one worker, and I’ve noticed a drop in service and quality. I’ll definitely use Two Guys in the future."

"I hired Wash Away to clean our windows, screens, and tracks. Ruby and her helper (I forgot to get her name!) did an awesome job! We just moved into our home and everything was so dirty! We can now see out of our windows and screens! My husband asked me yesterday if I had left the sliding door open because it is so clean he thought it was open. In fact, I have hired them to come back next month to clean my blinds, ceiling fans and globes. Not only do they do a great job, their prices are very reasonable! I recommend calling them for your window cleaning needs!"

"I couldn’t be happier about the service I received from Valenzuela’s cleaning Service. I spoke with Diego about my house and what I needed. He was able to give me a quote over the phone that was very reasonable and I scheduled my first cleaning. Two expert cleaners showed up exactly on time. I was pleased with the thoroughness of the job they did. I immediately scheduled for them to clean on a regular basis."

"Orett was very professional, timely and worked hard to get the job done. He did our HVAC cleaning and dryer vent cleaning for a single family home. He showed me his cleaning process throughout for â before and afterâ to show his work. I would recommend Phoenix Air Duct Cleaning Pro to anyone in the Tucson area."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you will tackle removing algae from your roof during spring or summer when the weather is drier and warmer. Because algae tends to grow during the colder and wetter months, you want to tackle this project before the temperature drops to hopefully keep it from coming back at all.

There are several telltale signs that your roof needs to be professionally cleaned. It's best to hire a professional as soon as you notice any indicators of wear to preserve your roof's longevity. Key signs to look for include:

  • Moss, Algae, or Plant Growth: Look for moss growth, black streaks (which are often a type of black algae), or any other plant life on your roof's surface.

  • Dirt and Grime Buildup: A general layer of dirt and grime can accumulate over time.

  • Leaf Buildup: An accumulation of leaves, especially in the gutters, is a clear sign.

  • Buildup Under Shingles: Dirt and debris can get trapped under the edges of your shingles.

  • Shifting Roof Shingles: While this can indicate other problems, it can also be a sign that cleaning and maintenance are overdue.

  • Comparison to Neighbors: If your roof appears significantly dirtier or different from your neighbors' roofs, that’s another sign it may be time for a cleaning.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

If you’re painting your home or monitoring a job as it’s being completed, squash the issue ASAP if you notice paint is getting onto the roof. Keeping it clean is one of the keys to extending your roof’s life.

Removing latex paint before it dries is much easier and lowers the risk of damaging your shingles (more on that below). Simply spray the spot with a hose for one to two minutes to clear away the drying paint. In general, this is a good way to remove ugly stains from your roof without using chemicals.

There are several ways to remove snow from your roof: using a snow rake, salting the roof with calcium chloride, using a rope (cautiously), and using heating cables. It’s important to mention that pretty, fluffy, sparkling snow weighs a great deal, and when physically removing snow from a roof, you should be aware of large snow slabs breaking off. These can weigh hundreds of pounds and are a real danger, so be extremely careful anytime you’re doing this type of work.
