"Cook Remodeling converted my carport to a garage and they did a wonderful job. They made sure everything was perfect and I ended up with a beautiful addition to my home. I worked with Jeff Cook and from our initial meeting, to his estimate, and all the way through construction I felt that he was listening to what I wanted while also sharing his expertise. Everyone that worked at my house, both Cook Remodeling employees and their subcontractors, were professional and treated me with respect. They always were considerate of my needs and they cleaned up at the end of every day. I would definitely work with Cook Remodeling again."

Small jobs welcome

"Zuly and her team helped me with my bathroom and kitchen remodel, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, they were professional, reliable, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was done right. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and they were always willing to answer my questions and keep me updated throughout the project. I’m so grateful for all of their hard work and dedication. It’s not easy to find a contractor you can truly trust, but Zuly and her team made the entire process smooth and stress free. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for quality work and great people to work with. Thank you for bringing my vision to life!!!"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

While concrete walls do not need to "breathe" in the traditional sense of the word, they do require waterproofing and dehumidifying methods, particularly in basements below the water table. Concrete both contains moisture from its initial installation and can absorb water when exposed. Ensuring proper basement ventilation , installing a vapor barrier, and controlling water exposure are all important tasks.
