"Had Russ redo our kitchen. Russ was great to work with and had our kitchen done in three days. His team were great and was so good to have such little disruption. We are very happy with our cabinets and have no problem recommending High Vibe."

"They did counter tops for a rental I have. They turned out beautiful. In a different house they installed cabinets in the whole house and they turned out the same. Great workmanship!"

"I hate being condescended to. Listen to what I want and then give suggestions on how I might be able to work that out in my kitchen. Don't just tell me it can't be done. I felt like I was wasting my time. I asked about a particular type of closet (not realizing it was part of a bigger cabinet...how would I know) and she told me to follow her (using her finger to me like a child) and said I couldn't have it because it was as part of a bigger piece. She could have just said that. I said if I can't make my kitchen more "usable" (less wasted space), WHY to with custom cabinets. I could just reface. The woman behind me who was waiting to ask her a question said. Listen, if you can't get what you want, I don't blame you for not spending the money. It's easy to reface. So, I called another company and, low and behold, I'm getting partial refacing and partial custom cabinets. He came and we discussed HOW I could get my carousel cabinet (uh - he suggested I go from a double to a single sink - easy peasy) AND, he came in at half the price your website suggested I might pay. It is really nice to be listened to...especially when it's MY money I'm spending."

"We were looking to replace a drop-in sink with a farmhouse style sink, which required reconfiguring the cabinet, reducing the size of the existing doors and reinforcing the cabinet to support the heavy new undermount sink. Sami did an excellent job completing this task, and was able to make the cabinetry a perfect match with the remaining cabinetry in the kitchen terms of color and door style. Sami also removed an island countertop and installed a new butcher block countertop. We are talking with Sami about coming back to modify several upper kitchen cabinet doors by replacing the center sections with obscured glass. We highly recommend Work Custom Cabinets."

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing questions, answered by experts

Yes, refacing old kitchen cabinets is doable as long as the cabinet boxes are still structurally sound. Refacing works best when the framework is in good condition, allowing you to update the doors, drawer fronts, and exterior surfaces without a full replacement.

Whether to reface or paint comes down to personal preference. Refacing strikes a convenient balance between being more affordable than replacing cabinets and longer-lasting than painting them. Furthermore, it allows homeowners to completely change the aesthetic of their cabinets and still paint them if they choose to. If money was no object, refacing is the better option. However, it’s more expensive and time-consuming than painting. Painting remains an effective way to revamp your cabinets, both in look and longevity, without spending a ton of money.

While it’s possible to reface or refinish kitchen cabinets yourself, it requires substantial time, money, and sweat equity. In particular, cabinet refacing requires many tools and materials, costing you between $1,645 and $6,570, depending on what you already own. Besides that, this is a project that shows imperfections easily. If carpentry isn't your strong suit, hiring a cabinet professional is best to ensure high-quality results.

No, and that’s why adding kitchen cabinets to the ceiling is popular! Whether you match the color of your existing cabinets or not, you can still paint your cabinet boxes with them attached to the wall—making this project much less invasive.

Since there are many methods of repairing your cabinets, including refacing and refinishing, it can be tricky to know when to replace or fix your existing cabinets. Generally, it’s best to repair your existing cabinets when the cabinet boxes are in good condition. Additionally, this option is best when you’re being budget-friendly or remodeling.

Replacing your cabinets is best when you’re changing the layout of the room or when the cabinet boxes are in rough shape. It’s also best to replace your cabinets if you need more storage space, as this will remove the existing cabinets for new ones.
