"Excellent! Eddie is very responsive to phone calls. He visited my home several times to discuss the job and helped me select colors prior to starting. He and his assistant were very professional. They did a wonderful job painting everything and cleaned up before they left. I would definitely recommend Cityscape Finishes to anyone who is looking to have their home or business painted."

"He didn't show up for the initial meeting.  Nor did he call so I drove an hour across town.  Then he didn't answer the phone.  This was to do a walk through.  At that time we would determine colors etc.  Then he avoided this altogether and I had to get a verbal list from him.  This is of things we were to provide.  The contract was for labor only. Then he did not do the work and stopped answering his phone.  Until I left a threatening message to write a bad review on Angie's List, he finally called me back and got the work on the calendar.  It was supposed to be 3 guys hours.  Mid afternoon I called to get a progress report and discuss any additional work I could possibly have done with the remainder of my time.  He again dodged my phone calls and didn't call back until the day was over and they had left the job site.  They quit at 2:30.  I said "you owe me more hours", he lied and said "we started at 5:30.  When I reminded him that my real estate agent didn't unlock the door until 8:00 am he again lied and said they broke into the home through a window.  It took me a few years to write this because I did not want to adversely affect his business but after much deliberation I decided I am tired of guys with this business practice.  Angie's List gets a bad grade too.  They offer these "deals" and I feel they are selling out a bit."

"The customer service was great. It was easy to schedule an appointment and even when I had to reschedule they were very accommodating. They gave an appointment reminder the day before which is a courtesy i appreciated. The inspector arrived on time and was thorough and efficient. I received the report in a very short amount of time. The report was complete and included a number of helpful photographs. There was not a single problem at any point in the process. I would particularly like to note that the office staff gave excellent service.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

When deciding if you should use 2x6 or 2x8 deck joists, consider the size of the deck, joist spacing, and materials. Larger decks, larger-spaced joists, and weaker wood all require more support, meaning they need larger joists. For example, 2x8 redwood joists spaced 16 inches apart can only safely span up to 10 feet and 7 inches. On the other hand, 2x10 southern pine joists spaced 12 inches apart can be as big as 16 feet and 2 inches. If you aren’t sure what size joist is best for your project, speak with your deck builder.

Deck skirting shouldn’t touch the ground, especially if you have a wood deck, which is vulnerable to moisture. Ideally, you should leave at least 3/4 of an inch of space between the deck skirting and the ground for more ventilation. Pros also recommend that you incorporate about 1 square foot of space for ventilation for the underside of the deck to every 150 square feet of decking. Proper ventilation prevents mold growth and rot that can damage your deck.

You should refinish your deck to maintain its appearance, durability, and longevity. Refinishing your deck protects the wood from foot traffic and the elements. It also helps extend its life span by keeping rot, mildew, and termites at bay. By maintaining your deck, you can avoid the cost of replacing your deck sooner. A refinished deck also looks great and restores some of its original beauty.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Yes, you can build a deck around a fire pit, as long as it is safely enclosed, meets code requirements, and is at least 15 feet away from your home. You’ll want to ensure you have a heat-resistant barrier between the fire pit and your deck to prevent any structural damage and fires. A galvanized ring surrounded by pavers, brick, or stone makes for a beautiful, safe, and sturdy design.
