"I was thrilled with the work performed by the Mercury Pool team. The waterline tile work was detailed, completed with care and high quality. The cool deck and pebble tech were also done very well. The scheduling was little hit and miss, due to weather, holidays and trying to juggle all customers. The cost of the remodel was reasonable. Overall, I was very happy with the quality of work by Mercury Pools and results of my pool remodel."

"Excellent! Eddie is very responsive to phone calls. He visited my home several times to discuss the job and helped me select colors prior to starting. He and his assistant were very professional. They did a wonderful job painting everything and cleaned up before they left. I would definitely recommend Cityscape Finishes to anyone who is looking to have their home or business painted."

"Jonathan of Pearl Painting came to my house along with a helper at 8:30am. They prepped the room by covering the floor with tarps and taping the doorways and baseboards. I gave him a B in quality only because there was a noticeable hole where a large nail had been and he painted over it without filling it in first. I didn't notice it until after he left. I had purchased a deal of $99.00 for painting one room up to 12'x13'. Even though I only had 3 walls of a small room painted, he charged me $50 extra because I have 10' ceilings. There was no mention of extra charges for higher ceilings in the conditions of the deal I had purchased. But Jonathan and his helper did such a good job I paid it without protesting. They each wore the white painter's coveralls, were very neat and clean, and did a beautiful job on my walls. He even put a third coat on one wall. One complaint I would mention here is he was supposed to let me know what time he was arriving the day before but he never did. He called me at 7:40 the morning of the job to let me know he would arrive at 8:30. Since I wasn't sure what time he was coming, I had to get up at 4:00am to help my husband move all the furniture to the center of the room before he left for work. Had I known he wasn't coming until 8:30 I could have had my son help me at 8:00am and could have slept another 4 hours! Jonathan gave me some good tips and very helpful information in case I wanted to paint a small hallway myself and even told me where to shop for paint where I could get his discount. But I am pretty sure I will just call Jonathan again if I do decide to have anymore painting done! They prepped the room, put 2 coats on 2 walls and 3 coats on the third wall, cleaned up and were on their way in 2 1/2 hours. Fast, professional, and very good!

"The customer service was great. It was easy to schedule an appointment and even when I had to reschedule they were very accommodating. They gave an appointment reminder the day before which is a courtesy i appreciated. The inspector arrived on time and was thorough and efficient. I received the report in a very short amount of time. The report was complete and included a number of helpful photographs. There was not a single problem at any point in the process. I would particularly like to note that the office staff gave excellent service.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You can nail or screw composite decking, but 3-inch decking screws are the better fastener choice. Unlike nails, decking screws won’t back out of the composite material over time. There’s also little danger of splitting composite material when driving screws, so you don’t need to pre-drill holes unless otherwise recommended by your decking manufacturer.

Building a deck is often worth the investment, not only because it provides more utility to your yard and gives you more space to entertain but also because decks tend to add value to your home. Keep in mind that second-story decks often require concrete footings, which means they will bump up your property taxes, while decks built on the first story generally don’t require a permanent foundation and won’t affect your taxes. Even with the tax increase, decks are usually a good investment in the long run.

It is possible to pressure wash your deck, but it’s usually best to leave the work to a professional for two main reasons. First, power washers are expensive, and you can avoid high upfront costs by hiring a deck washing pro instead. Second, you must be careful to use the correct setting to avoid damaging your deck material. You can only clean soft woods like pine with a wide spray and a low pressure; otherwise, the water will leave unpleasant marks on your deck. Hard woods, composite material, and metal can stand up to increasingly higher water pressures.

Yes, you can build a pool deck yourself, but it takes precision, a lot of time, and many specific tools. You’ll need to create a deck plan, be careful with measurements, cut each piece of wood, secure the pieces properly, and ensure the deck meets building codes. Building a deck around a pool is a rewarding DIY, but it’s time- and labor-intensive, so thoughtfully consider your abilities and the time you have before embarking on this DIY.

Pavers are a great decking option for pools. They’re customizable, come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, textures, materials, and price points, and they’re slip-resistant. Concrete pool decks, on the other hand, are harder to repair and replace if damaged and aren’t as slip-resistant as most paver materials. However, not all pavers are equal in terms of durability, maintenance, and performance. Pavers also have their own cons that may encourage homeowners to opt for stamped concrete instead, such as higher upfront costs.
