"I can not compliment Lonnie enough for all that he has done for us. This is a piano that is an antique and is personally priceless to us. Lonnie has the same love and care for our piano as we do and it showed. After carefully moving the piano, Lonnie was able to successfully tune it. And I assure you that this is no simple task. These are the original strings on a piano that is over 100 years old. It was 50% art and 50% science and all skill as he expertly blended the two. We were so pleased that we have asked him to come back and review our piano's needs as time goes on. Thank you Lonnie."

"Everything went perfectly.  I arranged the move a couple of weeks in advance.  Jamaal was the only mover I contacted who could do the move exactly when I wanted to do it, and his price--a flat rate, not an estimate--was $700 lower than the next company and $1100 less than the third one.  He and his helper arrived a few minutes early and loaded the truck in 4-5 hours, then drove to San Diego.  I left about 90 minutes after they did and arrived about an hour ahead of them.  It took them another 4 hours or so to unload the truck and put the bed back together.  Then, to my amazement, they drove back to Phoenix the same night.  Now that I've unpacked almost everything except books, I can say with some confidence that there's no damage, loss, or breakage.  In all aspects of the process, Jamaal was totally professional and dependable.  He also offered some valuable tips on packing.

"It went very well with them.  I was very pleased.  They were awesome.  They did a really nice job.  The crew moved my things very carefully and they did a great job.  The overall job was great.  They were timely.  The only problem was he said there will be four guys but it was only two who appeared and we had some people helped us with the piano but it was okay.

"I am a senior and needed help getting my home packed and moved. The crew was fast and efficient. They were also so friendly and courteous. The move went well from beginning to end and I couldn't be happier. It's not easy for us old folks to do as much as the younger crowd so the time the crew took to focus their attention on my needs was critical."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

To prepare for moving a piano, start by documenting its current condition with photos in case of any damage during the move. Secure the piano's lid and wrap the instrument, including its keys and pedals, with bubble wrap and moving blankets for protection. Note that if you have hired professional piano movers, they may handle this step for you.

Next, prepare the space. Measure any tight spaces or doorways to ensure the piano will fit through. Clear a wide path from the piano's location to the exterior door, removing any furniture or obstacles. It is also helpful to prop open doors to make the exit easier.

On moving day, ensure the moving truck can park as close to the exit as possible. For safety, keep children and pets away from the moving area to prevent accidents or distractions.

Yes, tipping each mover separately ensures that everyone on the team gets their fair share.

Most moving companies don’t charge by weight or volume unless you’re freight shipping items. The cost of hiring movers typically depends on the number of movers and time spent on the task.

Most professional movers can provide a wide range of moving-related services, and you’ll need to pick and choose which ones you want to use. Examples of common services offered include the following:

  • Organizing and packing your belongings

  • Protecting delicate items with bubble wrap or other protective equipment

  • Moving your belongings and furniture out of your old home

  • Moving your belongings into your new home within a certain distance

  • Unpacking your belongings in the new location

  • Moving heavy items, like pianos

  • Moving your vehicles

  • Storage if your new home isn’t ready

Planning ahead is essential—this will give you the chance to coordinate your move during weekends or after business hours, and set up essential services in your new office before moving day to minimize downtime. Start by creating a detailed timeline and checklist for every phase of the move, from packing to unpacking. Inform your employees, clients, and vendors about the move well in advance, including any expected disruptions and how you plan to manage them. Delegate responsibilities to ensure all aspects of the move are covered. Lastly, set up the essentials at the new location first to resume operations quickly.
