"Service request was answered promptly with repair date scheduled quickly. The handyman was kind and professional and worked swiftly to fix my bathroom sink. The charge for the repair was fair and reasonable. I would recommend to anyone in need of a quick household fix."

Small jobs welcome

Customers say: Super punctual

"James is a great handyman. He repaired my kitchen cabinet facade quickly without removing an adjoining cabinet that another handyman said was needed. He also tightened a faucet that the other handyman said was not repairable. The tile he re-attached was the easiest repair, but saved me the grief. His fee was reasonable too. Highly recommended."

"the pros from dad’s tool box were great!! They came to install a ceiling patio fan and repair the patio ceiling. Both jobs were done efficiently and they left the space clean. I’ve already setup for them to come back and do some more work in my home. I highly recommend them."

Mailbox Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can disassemble most furniture with the proper tools and experience. Beds, tables, bookshelves, and chairs are all items that can be disassembled. Be sure to keep track of parts like screws and hardware by labeling them with the disassembled items. Avoid disassembling delicate or antique items in case they become too damaged to reassemble.

When deciding whether to repair, reupholster, or replace old furniture, consider its age, quality, level of wear, and overall value, including sentimental attachment. In many cases, it is more affordable to reupholster or repair furniture than to replace it, especially for antique, vintage, or discontinued pieces.

Older furniture is often made from durable hardwoods like oak and maple, giving it a longer lifespan than newer furniture, which frequently uses lower-quality materials such as plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Because of this, repairing or reupholstering a well-made older piece is often a worthwhile investment.

To determine the best course of action from a financial perspective, compare quotes from local furniture repair services with the price of a new, similar piece. Reupholstery may not be cost-effective for furniture that was originally inexpensive (e.g., under $300). For high-quality or sentimental items, however, it is an excellent way to preserve the piece and extend its life. If you're unsure, a furniture reupholstery specialist can help you evaluate the piece and make an informed decision.

Regularly inspect older furnishings for scratches, dents, sun damage, tears, or insect infestations in upholstered objects. These are all signs that an object needs to be repaired, and tending to them sooner rather than later will ensure they don’t worsen with time and eventually require more costly refinishing.

A drawer falling out of place usually indicates there’s too much in it, so the best place to start is by emptying it of any non-essential items to check whether it was simply a weight issue. If that’s not the case, check whether the front panel or hardware is damaged, and replace parts as necessary. You may need to replace the drawer or the drawer slides if the issue persists.

Minor water damage on wood tables can be reversed fairly easily. You can remove stains and light surface damage with a sandblock, then repaint and re-varnish the wood surface. For swollen and rotten wood, you can cut away the damaged parts and use a wood filler as long as the affected area isn’t too much.
