Customers say: True professional

"Ron and Josh proved to be masters of their craft while installing, sanding and finishing red oak floors in our 100+ year old home. Problems with the existing sub-floor and transitions between rooms were discussed and solutions, based on Rons many years of experience, were implemented with costs given before the work proceeded. The floor throughout looks amazing!! And captures the beauty, authenticity, and integrity we were hoping for. We highly recommend Splinters for your hardwood floor needs."

"They responded IMMEDIATELY to my inquiry. I had no sooner submitted my inquiry than they were calling me to see what I needed. They immediately scheduled a consultation with one of their staff. Kyle was the gentleman we worked with. He he texted me the day before our consultation to assure me that we indeed had a meeting/consultation at "10:00 tomorrow", and that he would be there. He was very pleasant, kind, and comfortable/easy to work with. Was NOT pushy! He helped us with choosing our flooring, and gave us a good price on the flooring and installation. Excellent and very prompt service! Good prices. Highly recommend!! ??"

"We had a Master Bathroom remodeling where the slippery floor to the shower replaced and walls were taken to the top, a light above the shower installed along with a new high tech shower L was installed. A larger storage area was made and the entire sink and faucets were replaced in marble. We would recommend Bano and the crew to others."

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

Yes, your kitchen flooring should extend under your dishwasher. It is essential for creating a level and stable surface for the appliance and preventing moisture from seeping into the subflooring, which is costly to repair. Working with a kitchen contractor will ensure the new flooring accounts for the height of the dishwasher so it sits under the countertop properly without any glaring gaps.

Hardwood offers the highest ROI at around 75%. Engineered hardwood, tile, reclaimed wood, and laminate also increase a home’s value but with lower ROIs. Lighter tiles tend to increase a home’s value slightly more than darker tiles. Taking the ROI into account when you choose flooring can increase your home value and allow you to recoup some or all of the cost to install it.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of personal preference. However, as a rule of thumb, lighter-colored carpets and walls will open up a room and often make it feel larger than it really is. On the other hand, darker shades tend to shrink a space, making it feel cozier. By mixing and matching light and dark colors, you can add dimension to the room.

The first step in budgeting for carpet is to determine the amount of carpet you need and the type of carpet you want. You might be tempted to opt for the least expensive option if you have a limited budget, but a low-quality carpet won’t last as long as a high-quality one. When accounting for future carpet repair costs, it makes sense to buy the best-quality carpet you can afford.
