"Chris was very friendly and professional. He gave us an estimate an we agreed on a start date. He was able to start early before our original date. He came in on time and was very careful about covering up the floor and furniture while painting. He had our job complete by the deadline. We would recommend him to our friends or family . Excellent job very satisfied !!! He will be doing another job for us in the next few weeks . Thanks Chris and Arturo !

"Mr. Jay is very professional and provides extremely high quality work. He was always ontime and kept my husband and I updated as the project progressed. He is a very polite person and takes great pride in his work. I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for any type of woodwork for their home. He was prompt in coming out for a quote and was able to complete our project within the discussed time frame. We were so thrilled with his work that we will be hiring him again for a deck in the near future."

"I appreciate all the hard work of Victor and Paul.  It was so hot outside, but they persevered.  My house had not been painted in many (many) years, and needed a lot of work.  They replaced so many areas of rotten wood, that I cannot even list them all.   Then, of course, they painted our house  and shutters.  They were positive, professional, and hardworking.  My house looks beautiful.

"We were very pleased with the service from McCannâ s Home Care. They were friendly and did an excellent job power washing our front porch, patio and walkway. We never knew those areas were so dirty until they were cleaned so well. It looks like we have new concrete!"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.

Yes, and in some cases, frozen ground may improve the digging process for footings due to sturdier conditions. It’s easier than working in muddy conditions, which are more common in the spring. Contractors may use machinery that makes this step a breeze, so harder ground shouldn’t affect the building process.

Increases livable area and enhances aesthetic, often boosting property appeal.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.
