"We could not be more pleased with the windows than we are! Recently Mr. Randy Jones came and looked at our old windows. Having just moved into our 60 year old home in Texarkana a few months ago, we were not sure we could afford this major improvement. We had already made several improvements and thought we would have to wait on replacing windows. We have quite a few windows and some are large. We were so happy to realize we would be able to get them ordered at a considerably lower cost than we were expecting! Randy is a very nice gentleman, patient, happy to explain the product, answer any questions! Also the crew that removed the old windows, installed the new ones, did necessary caulking, cleaned up and were so friendly and pleasant. They cleaned everything up. Our house looks so modern, updated now. I have several neighbors who kinda watched the work behind done and asked me the name of the company. Some of them are just waiting on spring time to check into getting windows from Factory Direct Exteriors. I'm confident they will be just as happy with their new windows as we are!"

"Braden was professional, explained exactly what he would do on my project. He was diligent in contacting me regarding the paint color I requested and applied 2 coats. He repaired the support beams as well as replacing the boards that were in need of replacing on top of the deck and lattice work at the base. I will recommend him & request Mr. Melton to do future jobs."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely put a screen on a casement window, and most casement windows come with screens. Unlike with a double-hung, single-hung, or sliding window, the screen in a casement window sits on the inside of the window so that the sash can freely open outward. Screens are especially important for casement windows because the large window opening the window provides leaves your home more open to bugs and outside debris than most other types of operable windows.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.

Window screens can take anywhere between 10 minutes and an hour to replace, depending on the complexity of the replacement and the accessibility of the window. Replacing the screen inside an existing frame normally takes longer than replacing an entire screen, frame and all, if you purchase a prefabricated screen already mounted on the frame.
