"I had a noon appointment, however Carl called about 9am and said he was nearby and asked if I would like him to come earlier. This worked out great for me so I told him to come on. After surveying the work to be done he said he needed a bracket for one of the ceiling fans and the light fixture I had hoped might be repaired actually needed replacing. He asked me if I would like him to pick up an LED fixture for my kitchen while he was at Lowe's buying a ceiling fan bracket. I told him that would be wonderful. After a short trip to Lowe's he came back and started working. He obviously new what he was doing as he worked quickly and did a professional job. He was very good at explaining what he was doing and was extremely friendly and professional. I was impressed how quickly he finished the job. I would not hesitate to use this company again or recommend them to others. I was so impressed that I offered a tip, which he refused saying that it wasn't necessary because they did the same type work everyday. I thought the cost was very reasonable since it included and new bracket and fixture in addition to the labor cost."

In most parts of the country, it’s required by law that a licensed electrician be the one to connect your ceiling fan if the ceiling hasn’t already been wired to support one. We strongly recommend going with a professional if you need to install wiring into your home to power a ceiling fan.

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.
