"Epic Mechical Company lived up to their name. The installers were on time and completed the installation in a timely manner. The crew were very courteous and made sure to clean up the area before departing. They made sure I knew what all the changes were and how to set up the smart thermostats. They also went above and beyond by identifying and rectified a safety issues with my hot water system which was not part of the installation. The operation was very streamlined and I felt confident in my investment."

"Two Brothers was quick in giving me a quote and offered me many options at varying price points. Robert was awesome at explaining the various options and this contributed greatly in my final decision. Installation was quick once the decision was made. Installation was done in a day and Robert's crew was excellent about cleaning up after the job. I would definitely use them again and appreciate the quick response, quality installation, and fair pricing. In fact, I will be using them for any HVAC work needed at apartments that I own."

"When my computer refused to boot up, I took it to Jim and he diagnosed a virus infection as the problem. He got the machine working again by installing a new hard drive and adding more memory for increased performance. Just a couple of weeks later, the computer again was having problems. This time, Jim dianosed the culprit as being the machine's original memory. While I decided not to remove and not replace the faulty memory for the time being due to cost, Jim upgraded my operating system to enhance the overall system performance. Jim was very professional and timely and was very sensitive to my concerns. Communication is excellent."

"It went great! I found Tim Snodgrass on home advisor. He contacted me in a timely fashion and set up an appointment. When he came out he was very professional and ask some very good questions as he evaluated what I had and what I needed. He had a very competitive bid (I received two) Installation was fast. He checked air flow and temperature of the air at vent to make sure the unit was performing correctly. I was very impressed. I would recommend Velvet Ridge Services and will definitely use him in the future."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Probably not. Moving a boiler to a new location is a very different prospect from replacing it in the same spot, and significantly more expensive. Plus, boilers are typically carefully positioned in proximity to pipes and radiators when installed. Homeowners may want to move boilers to free up space, prevent freezing problems that have happened in winter, or solve a noise issue—but it’s a much more costly proposition.

The main difference between an outdoor wood furnace versus an outdoor wood boiler is what each appliance is heating. An outdoor wood furnace burns wood to create heat, which warms the air and moves it through the ducts in your home. An outdoor wood boiler uses the heat from burning wood to warm water, which goes through pipes to radiators in the home.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.

Costs depend on issue severity, parts needed, and labor rates.

The best time of year to purchase or replace an HVAC system, including components like an air conditioner or furnace, is during the off-season—spring and fall. During these periods, HVAC professionals are less busy than in summer and winter, when extreme temperatures create urgent demand. Shopping during the off-season can lead to savings of 10% to 15% on an AC unit and allows you more time to find the best deal and other cost-saving incentives. Typically, air conditioning units go on sale in the fall after demand drops, while furnace prices tend to decrease in the spring.
