"Chad came out to work on a 20 year old Generac 20KW standby generator that had stopped running. After checking normal possible issues with no positive results he contacted Generac and they helped troubleshoot the issue. It took replacement of two parts with him having to take unit completely apart each time. It took two days but he did not give up and got it running again. And saved having to replace unit."

"Fantastic! Steve was very fast to respond to my request on Angi and also to come provide a free estimate. He was professional and honest. He did what he said, when he said he would do it and for the price he quoted. I won't hesitate to call him if I need an electrician in the future."

"Needed a fixed home generator due to health issues. They worked on a scheduled day off to assure we had a generator installed prior to my husband coming home from the hospital. They worked efficiently and with the gas company. I would recommend them to anyone in central Arkansas needing service."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Yes, natural gas generators can work without electricity. Natural gas generators are a common type of backup or whole-house generator that operates when the electrical grid isn’t working. The trick is using a transfer switch (which usually needs to be installed with the generator) that safely switches the home electrical system from the power grid to generator power when needed.

Yes. You can connect your home back-up battery to a generator with its designated charger. Be sure that the output of the generator matches the input requirements for the battery for best results.

In many cases, yes. There are models called dual-fuel generators and fuel switches, but only between certain types of fuel. For example, with the right setup you can convert a generator from natural gas to propane. Some allow switching between diesel and gasoline. There are even tri-fuel generators available in some cases, which adds a large layer of security if you are worried about fuel availability in times of crisis. Always check your generator capabilities and manual instructions before trying to switch fuels. Some generators can use another fuel but may need a fuel conversion kit to prep them first.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

To power a central air system during a power outage, the whole-house generator will need to be at least 5,000 watts, and this number will significantly increase for larger units. Check the specific wattage requirements of your AC unit to choose the right generator size. Consider consulting a generator installer to ensure your whole-house generator meets your electrical load needs.
