"They do their work fast but do not pay too much attention to detail, driveway did not look new, roller marks every where even after spray sealant first rain revealed several low points with standing water, calls to fix gets the standard answer lets wait for it to cure. .been waiting several weeks an actual time would have been better. Over all they are average, repair to old driveway was done well, it is flat and better than it was."

"We had a gravel driveway that has had pothole problems for over 30 years. We asked these guys to put asphalt millings on the driveway. Some of the potholes came back, so I called the guys and they came back with another load of millings. A while later some of the potholes came back again. I called the guys and let them know. I asked them if they would send a load of millings and I told them I would use it to fill in the pot holes as needed, using our tractor. 2 days later about 17 tons of millings showed up. This should be enough for me to fill in pot holes for a while. Their whole crew are very nice guys"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Think of the street as a way to capture all the elements on either side of the road, including the road—a street encompasses the homes or other buildings, the trees, and the road of a given area as defined by the beginning and end of the street on a map. A roadway, however, is the component of the street where cars travel.

Driveway aprons typically range between four and seven inches thick, though your town's building codes will likely have specific requirements. Additionally, you may need to add a layer of permeable aggregate in the excavation below your paved apron to ensure proper stormwater drainage.

This creates a risk for your driveway to fail after asphalt curing because it doesn't have a lasting bond with the surface. In order to get asphalt to perform as intended, it's necessary to prepare the dirt surface correctly first. The loose soil base under the new driveway must be compacted until it is stable enough to support the weight of the asphalt.

A solid driveway starts with the right asphalt mix, and for most homes, dense-graded hot mix asphalt (HMA) is the most recommended. It’s both durable and flexible, making it a reliable choice for residential use. A properly compacted 2-3 inch layer on a well-prepared crushed stone base will hold up for years. In areas with harsh winters or scorching summers, a slightly modified mix can help prevent cracking and rutting. No matter the climate, quality installation is just as important as the material itself, so hiring an experienced contractor ensures a smooth, long-lasting driveway built to last.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.
