"They missed the original appointment to stop the toilet from running and change out wax rings but it was rescheduled for my next available day. They arrived in a regular car with supplies in a plastic home depot bag. Very polite workers came out (smelt of cigarette smoke and my home smelt of cigarettes during and after). They had to run to hardware store for the hacksaw and later used other products of mine to complete the job. They took toilet outside and now the base of an expensive, decorative toilet has several black streaks on the base that will not come off. A couple of days later it started leaking from behind the toilet at the floor. After a short call they came out the same day and stopped that leak; however, they chipped the new toilet seat lid that we had just purchased, as well as, leaving the toilet/bathroom dirty. The workers are nice guys and the owner responds quickly to communication but overall I feel I am more damaged than resolved. I have not brought these issues up with the owner as I am no longer confident it can be resolved by them."

"Mike called & texted the same afternoon I looked into Angie’s List. Was looking for possible work on my daughters new home at college. Didn’t end up needing the work but will keep him in mind if ever needed."

Toilets FAQs, answered by experts

Recaulk your toilet at least every five years. If you feel like your toilet is getting wobbly before that, it still might be time for a new caulking. Never directly place new caulk over existing caulk because that doesn’t produce lasting results. Also, caulking over existing moldy caulk does not kill out the mold by suffocating it, so if you have mold, be sure to get rid of it before recaulking.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.

Technically, you can put an elongated toilet seat on a round toilet, but it’s not a good idea. Elongated toilet seats are a few inches longer than round toilets, so they will hang over the front edge of your toilet, which isn’t appealing. Additionally, an unsupported toilet seat or portion of a toilet seat is more likely to crack and shift, which could result in injury to whoever uses the toilet. Always match your toilet seat style to your toilet, or replace the toilet entirely if you’re looking to switch styles.

DIY is not recommended for commercial settings due to safety and code compliance. Hire licensed professionals.

Ensuring your toilet will fit starts with measuring the rough-in, but there are a few other factors to consider. The toilet tank's height and the toilet's depth should fit comfortably within the bathroom’s current setup. When considering depth, look at the walking space around the toilet to ensure it fits in the bathroom.
