Andy Oliver & Randal Smith are two very experienced Masons and friends. If you need our services we would be happy to help, you can call or e-mail to discuss bidding. We can't give you an estimate without first seeing the project, but we can give you some prices and rough estimates over the phone or e-mail if needed. When we begin a project we turn in a draw on Thursday for what is done for that week so you can have a check ready for us by Friday so that our employees are paid every Friday as promised! We stand behind our work and are proud to look back at a job well done! We believe in customer satisfaction and have worked hard to create a better work environment for our employees! We look forward to hearing from you, Good Luck and God Bless You!

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

Roofers most often use nails to fasten roofing shingles and other roofing materials. Nails have more holding power than staples and offer better weather resistance and longevity. However, it is possible to use staples instead of nails when installing a roof. Staples are less expensive, but not as high-quality.

The lifespan of a roof patch depends on which materials you use and the severity of the damage. Temporary solutions like tarps or plastic sheets last a few weeks to a few months, while roofing tape or caulk may hold up for a year or two. Permanent patches using roofing cement, flashing, or replacement shingles can last several years as long as they're properly maintained. Regular inspections and touch-ups can extend the patch’s lifespan, but eventually, a full repair or replacement would be needed.

The paint on a metal roof will last for about 10 years (the metal roof itself has a life span of 40 to 70 years). After a decade, the metal roof’s color may be more noticeably faded, and chips and cracks may start to form in the paint.

While DIY patching is possible, professional services guarantee reliability in workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Generally, magnets do stick to a metal roof, though certain metals may not be magnetic. In that case, you can use self-adhesive hooks designed for outdoor use or plastic clips that hook onto your gutter or the edge of your roof. But if your metal roof is made of steel, aluminum, or copper, you're in luck—those are all magnetic metals.
