"Wow. I think they peeled the old wall off and stuck a new one on. The new paint job is so smooth and perfect that .... they cheated. They had to. Or they only hire X-men. Something! All the lines are perfectly straight. There is only a minuscule amount of spatter, and not a bit on the dogs. Aside from the walls changing color and the ceiling becoming white again, I can't tell they were here. They also stained and sealed our new oak stairs. Same thing. Near-perfect match to our hardwood floors, clean-clean-clean application, perfect caulking, perfect edges, just perfect. And they showed up promptly at exactly 8 AM every morning. What contracting crew does that? They were a subcontractor to Richard Hannah Construction, which says a lot right there. I'd hire them in a minute myself."

"Superior attention to detail; meticulous work; drop cloths used; professional crew. After being ripped off by another painter, so-called, B&B stepped in and gave us a quality paint job; I will use them to do our deck. The owner is amiable and knowledgeable, quite friendly indeed, always explaining to us what had to be done. We were in excellent hands. Without qualification, I would recommend B&B."

"We had four exterior doors and three decks painted. Very professional. Arrived on time and explained what they would be doing each day. We will be having Mr. Mendoza doing interior painting in the spring. I highly recommend Mendoza’s Painting for all your painting needs. You will be very pleased."

"First contact with this company was with John Martin. He came to our house and noted all work to be done then gave us an estimate. John was very easy to work with and helped with some ideas I was unsure of. He explained the whole timeline of the job. We were able to have the job started quite promptly, the first day Courtney met us at the house and introduced us to Eder Neito our painter. She also checked the paint colours to make sure we were right. Through the whole process John kept checking back via text. Both he and Courtney also came to the house to check on the work. We’re really happy with the outcome and highly recommend Painter Bros. Eder Neito did a fantastic job and was so neat and tidy, not one paint spot spilled any where. The last painters we had did a terrible job and the paint was peeling off our doors, Eder fixed them all and they look so nice now."

Small jobs welcome

"Jose and his crew replaced old wood retaining walls. They installed the posts at a deeper depth and also cemented them at the base. 2x6's were used for the walls and secured to the posts with 3/8 x 3" galvanized lag bolts. will hire them for other projects. Work was done in a very short time. All debris was cleaned up after. extremely pleased with the quality and aesthetics of the work done."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex. Testing whether your chosen paint will stick on an inconspicuous section or a spare board is a good idea.

Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.

When choosing between deck stain or paint, knowing what will last longer is important. Deck paint lasts longer than deck stain. With deck paint, you can get up to 10 years of coverage before you need to reapply. With deck stain, that time is significantly shorter at two to three years

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

You’ll need to wait until the surface is completely dry, which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours under optimal conditions. The waiting period depends on several factors, including the type of siding and the weather conditions. Trying to paint before the surface is completely dry can trap moisture under the paint, leading to bubbling, blistering, and mold growth.
