"All around great service, very professional and straight forward experience. From evaluation of roof condition and or damage, to working with the insurance adjuster to help determine replacement over repair options, Dunlop Roofing was top notch and did a wonderful job installing my new roof in just one day. An awesome company that I fell comfortable recommending."

"Mike is a great guy to deal with. Arrived when they said they would. Reasonly priced for the roof repair. We will wait for rain to see if repair helped stop the leaking. Overall 5 stars."

"Mr. Rodriguez employee tested positive for COVID. He came on with high-quality equipment and performed the service alone. Instead of 4 hours of assistance- he took 6 hours did a; great pride in performing the entire 4,000 sq. ft. metal roof to perfection! We highly recommend Blastmatic LLC."

Small jobs welcome

"Kent was very thorough with his work and was friendly. I walked with him in every step except going up the roof or in the crawlspace. I also felt assured that he was conducting the inspection in my interest, and not the realtor's or the seller's"

"Reasonable price, professional, accommodating, and overall pleasant. When I asked them to please clean up when they left, they did. When I asked to have the metal left behind so I can sell it, they did. When a neighbor asked the boss to give her an estimate on a roof, she wanted fixed, he did. The boss even tried to fix a piece of my siding that's always never fit right due to a goof-up at the mobile home factory. Now, let's see how this thing handles south Alabama storms. Since the boss got a taste of how windy it can be on a CLEAR day at my house, I suspect this roof ain't goin' to Oz."

"Followed thru with every aspect of purchasing a new metal roof including initial estimate, scheduling the day requested, arriving on time with adequate materials and sufficient employees to complete the project in a timely manner. Lead Contractor available to instruct and supervise all difficult or questionable aspects of the installation process. Adhered to original price quote including replacement of rotten facial board and broken gutter replacement. Highly recommend this team of local owned business owners."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

How long shingles last depends on the type of shingles you have on your roof. Asphalt shingles normally last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, metal shingles can last anywhere from 15 to 100 years, and tile shingles can last anywhere from 50 to 100 years or more.

A cool roof can be worth it in the right climate. Cool roofs are excellent at reflecting solar heat away from your home, so if you live in a warm or hot climate, they can be a great roofing choice. Some cool roofing materials are even eligible for tax credits. However, they cost more than traditional roofing and don’t retain heat as well as traditional roofing, so they’re not ideal if you live in a cold climate.

The lifespan of a torch down roof depends on the number of layers installed. A single-ply system typically lasts between 10 and 15 years, while a multi-layer system with two or three layers can last from 15 to 25 years. Although a multi-layer option may be more expensive upfront, it provides a longer service life. Warranties often reflect this, with about 12 years for a one-ply system and 15 years for a two-ply system. For context, this lifespan is shorter than other common roofing materials like wood or asphalt shingles, which typically last 20 to 30 years, with high-quality versions lasting up to 50 years.

The minimum recommended slope for a porch roof is 1/4:12, which means 1/4-inch of rise every 12 inches of run. Slopes of 3:12 and 4:12 are more common and provide faster drainage for runoff. Make sure to choose a pitch that’s appropriate both for the climate in your area and the type of roof material you install. Hire a roofer if you need help determining what the right roof pitch is.

Copper roofs last an average of around 100 years, making it one of the longest-lasting types of roofs. It’s significantly more expensive than an asphalt shingle roof, but it also lasts three to four times as long, providing great value for the money. You can extend the life of your copper roof by carrying out routine maintenance, like scheduling annual cleaning and roof inspections.
