Poor Boy Remodeling and Roofing

I called on  friday about getting an estimate. They came saturday morning and seemed to know what they were talking about and were willing to work with us. The price was reasonable so we signed a contract and they started work monday morning. More work was discovered so we signed a second contract for that. The first 2 days went very well and the roof leak was fixed. After that it was hit and miss if they would show up and who would be working each day. There was no materials list. it was run get it as they needed it and I was doing the running. They did not bring anything to drink and asked me repeatedly for drinks. some days I was generous and provided gatorade and water. Some days I even provided lunch because they would not take lunch and started getting sloppy and making mistakes in the afternoons.  I ordered a kit to make a custom shower pan and was assured they had a guy that had used the kits before and knew exactly what he was doing. After the shower pan was done I discovered my kit in a box on the back porch and 90% of it had not been used. The shower pan does not have the required slope and it is bumpy so I will have to level it by grinding to even be able to lay tile there. Some of the floor tiles they installed sound hollow when tappeddue to insufficient adhesive being used. Theere is drywall mud dropping all over the tiles, haze from the grout and they did not seal it at all, even though I bought the required products. the bedroom where they painted and laid carpet is unfinished, they got paint on the carpet, the carpet has buckles, and the baseborads were never bought or installed as per the contract. The bedroom and storage loft were on a seperate contract and a cost of $1800 for materials was quoted as part of the total cost. When materials were purchased, they were not what had been agreed on and cost less than $1000.The hangers used to support the floor beams are not even attached to the wood, they are just stuck up there. At times a tool was neede that they did not have and they would ask if I had it. I would go find the tool. After a few days they stopped asking and just helped themselves to ALL of my tools and I am still trying to locate them all. There was a huge mess left all over my house and yard. Building scraps, food, empty cans and bottles, and MANY ciggeratte butts. I ended up firing them and not paying the remaining $500 of the contract because the work was incomplete in every room involved and they did not show up as agreed the next day. On the days they did not show up I usually had to call and was given a different story a or a totally different version of the same story each time. I believe they were taking smaller quick jobs during those days to make quick money because they were taking so long completeing my projects and wanted money. The owner used his family in the stories as a way to try and get sympathy and not get in trouble. The owner is very unorganized and does not know how to bid a project and give an accurate materials list or cost. They were not prepared and did not take breaks or have drinks on hot days. This resulted in many mistakes and wasting of materials and MY MONEY.
