"I had several small projects to complete, including replacement/installation of a bathroom vent fan, replacement of a dryer vent hose and minor deck and fence repairs. Micah Douglas was responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. I am very happy with the quality of the work done and would hire him again."

"I wanted a new fence across my entire backyard. Old fence needed to be taken down and removed, the new fence put up, and the new fence stained. Their estimate was reasonable and they were able to address specific concerns I had. They did an excellent job on all tasks and completed the tasks on the schedule they provided. They kept me informed along the way as to when they would arrive and the work to be completed that day. I would recommend them without reservation and would use them again for other tasks."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Lattice should not touch the ground, as it creates a possibility for rot and a termite infestation. It’s best to leave a gap of 3 or 4 inches at the bottom for airflow and to keep the wood dry. You can add stones, bricks, or other decorative pieces to conceal the bottom of the lattice if desired.

Rust, bent panels, loose posts, and broken welds often require repair.

Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.

Installing a picket fence includes measuring and marking the area where you plan to build the fence, laying out all of the materials, digging post holes, setting the posts using concrete, measuring the rails, attaching the rails, attaching the pickets, and then painting or staining the fence if you chose a wooden fence material

The best wood for fence posts are redwood, cedar, and pressure-treated pine. Wood posts made from these materials will typically lasts between 15 and 30 years, depending on the specific type you choose and your local climate. With proper care and maintenance, a fence post made of these materials can withstand most weather conditions.
