"Needed a new deck railing from storm damage, and Jonathan followed up, gave a detailed quote for our insurance, and completed the job within the week. Polite and thorough, there was zero headache. Final product looks great and came in under competitors prices I had quoted."

"Rob was very helpful in helping with picking out paint colors, and, letting me know how dark, or, bright they would look with the natural light on the room. He used some unused paint that he had on hand to prime coat some of the rooms, thus saving me money. They repainted when I chose a color that I later didn't like, with a minimum of eye rolling. Lol The workers cleaned up after themselves everyday. They did excellent Sheetrock repair, and, Rob is an excellent detail painter -- no taping needed!

"Outdoor lighting placed 24 yrs ago was wired incorrectly, making it quite difficult to update and install replacement lighting. Had tried unsuccessfully to get this done by other electricians. Roman's electrician, Steven, worked tirelessly to solve the problem and finish the job satisfactorily. Roman also replaced a major deck support that had rotted underground and had cracked just above the ground. Pleasure to deal with them. Work was not inexpensive but worth the price."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Deck repairs cost around $800 to $3,500 . However, your cost depends on the type and severity of the repair, as well as the type of decking material you have. Other factors, like location and labor costs, impact the price, too. Boards and railings are the priciest parts of a deck to repair, while loose stairs are less expensive to fix.

Any wood deck provides some ventilation to the area below, as is the nature of that type of deck design. However, areas that experience excessive humidity and associated moisture benefit greatly from a dedicated ventilation system in the form of strip vents. This addition helps the various wood boards contract and expand evenly throughout the years and reduces the chances of twisting, warping, and buckling.

Rotting wood, loose railings, or unstable stairs may indicate a need for expertise.

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.

PVC decking might be long-lasting, but this synthetic material lacks the natural aesthetic or sustainability of wood decking. If you want to match your decking to your new garden furniture or just freshen up the faded surface, it’s not usually possible to paint PVC decking. When comparing PVC to composite decking, PVC is pricier and more prone to warping in hot regions.
