"South Gate Fencing did an excellent job.  All materials were explained and quoted before purchasing.  Installation was quick and clean.  The installers were courteous to me and my family.  We did not pay until the job was complete and we were completely satisfied."

"Cantey called quickly to schedule an appointment to look at the areas I had concerns with. They inspected my slap foundation and addressed the areas I was concerned with. They found no issues with my home, but did point out some settling that caused cracking in my front porch. I appreciate that they broke down the processed they presented and warranties that they include. After evaluating and choosing a course of action, I was put on the schedule. The technicians were in constant communication with me throughout the steps and walked me through their work once complete. I am very pleased with the outcomes and should I need any future services (and I hope they understand that I hope it won't be anytime soon), they're my first call."

"Absolutely the best! Very Professional. I had an existing fence That deteriorated over the years. He took down the old fans and put up a new black chain-link fence. It made the whole area come alive again. His rates are very affordable. Will definitely use him again."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning, rust-proof coatings, and checking fasteners help prolong the lifespan.

The cost to build a fence is about $3,100 on average, but you could pay anywhere from $400 to $13,700 or more. Your cost will depend on the length, height, and materials for the fence. If you hire a professional installer, labor costs typically represent about half of the total cost of the project. This means you potentially can save quite a bit of money doing the work yourself.

A silt fence should be buried in a trench that is 6 to 12 inches deep. A depth of at least 6 to 8 inches is necessary to prevent water and sediment from running underneath the fence. A deeper trench, up to 12 inches, provides better anchoring during wet and windy weather. To ensure proper installation, look for a red line on the silt fence fabric, which often indicates the correct burial depth. Always adhere to local guidelines and regulations; a professional contractor will be familiar with these requirements.

Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.

Many types of farm fencing can work well for your farm, but it depends on the type of animal you need to contain and the size of your property. If you want something quick and temporary, go with a metal T-post fence. If you need something that will last forever, go with a synthetic fence made of composite material or PVC. Electric and barbed wire fences are often chosen for docile livestock, like pigs and cows.
