"South Gate Fencing did an excellent job.  All materials were explained and quoted before purchasing.  Installation was quick and clean.  The installers were courteous to me and my family.  We did not pay until the job was complete and we were completely satisfied."

"Joe is very professional and kind. I explained how I recently moved and could not bring my dogs until I have a fence. He understood my urgency and was able to work me in sooner than I expected. His team did a fantastic job installing my fence, and it looks amazing! I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone looking for a new fence!"

"They did a great job and fixed my mother's fence section that got torn down. The price was decent, as well. To come to Bagley, all the way from Tuscaloosa was a long drive. The fence looks so much better! I will use them in the future."

"Absolutely the best! Very Professional. I had an existing fence That deteriorated over the years. He took down the old fans and put up a new black chain-link fence. It made the whole area come alive again. His rates are very affordable. Will definitely use him again."

"I took several bids on this work. Bobbys was the lowest. They showed up on time, did a professional job with good materials and kept a clean job site. I invited them to come back four months later and waterproof the fence for winter. That job went well also. I will definitely use them again."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You can weather a new wood fence by applying vinegar with steel wool as a way to fade some of the coloring. You may also find it easier to stain your entire fence a new color instead of trying to get newer fence boards to match an older one.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

While power washing isn't a requirement before you stain a fence, it can make the job much easier and faster while reducing manual labor requirements. The stain will not work if the wood is full of dirt and dust, so power washing, sometimes called pressure washing, is a fast and effective way to prepare the wood for staining. Remember that you need to stain or repaint relatively soon after the wood has dried so that there isn’t time for dust and dirt to build up again.

If you only use your gate as a pedestrian, walking through without a vehicle, you’re fine to stick with a single fence gate. If your fence opening needs to accommodate vehicles of any kind, from cars to trucks to 4-wheelers, then a double fence gate will suit the space much better and give you more freedom.

If the fence is on one neighbor’s property, that person is responsible for repairs, regardless of who benefits from the fence more. The other neighbor must keep trees and other obstacles from crossing the property line and affecting the fence. If the fence is directly on the property line, though, who owns a shared fence? Many states have laws that address this issue. Typically, the two property owners would share responsibilities and costs for fence maintenance and repair. You may need a property line survey to precisely determine ownership and responsibility.
