Description of Work
They did work on two residences. On one residence that had condensation from the ductwork that stained the ceiling below, they insulated the ductwork to preclude reoccurrance of the condensation damaging finishes below. On the other residence, which had three HVAC Units, they added a Mitsubishi Mini-Split with air handlers in two separate rooms to provide additional cooling on a southern exposure for which the existing system was inadequate. They provided the annual service on the HVAC for both residences. They repaired crushed ductwork (having been stepped on), sealed the ductwork from leaks with an aerosol sealant, weatherstripped doors, added additional insulation above the ceiling and found uninsulated areas by using a FLIR camera (infrared indicating temperature), and fabricated a closure-seal to fit a horizontal sliding garage door opening to minimize infiltration. The energy saving measures reduced the air infiltration from a 5 square foot equivalent opening to the atmosphere to a 13 square inch opening which is a 95%+ reduction in air infiltration, and concomitant reduction in energy usage and electric utility bill savings. I am ecstatic over the results. To my knowledge, AAA Air Care is the only HERS-rated Energy Consultant in our region, which requires Blower Door testing to determine leaks in the building envelope, which is required to comply with the current energy codes.

Description of Work
After my initial payment (half of total) in early June of 2009, Craig and his crew obtained the solar (photovoltaic) panels, grid-tie inverter, solar panel mounting parts (this was a ground mounted - not a roof mounted -- system), as well as all other material needed for this installation. Craig asked pertinent questions, visited my home and took the necessary site readings with his extensive technical equipment (this is important, as the installer must determine how much average solar light one receives throughout the year -- taking shadows from trees into account during the different seasons, among other things -- and if the panels can be placed in the customer's preferred area and still give the desired, year-round performance). He also needed to find out if the underground area where the wiring would be placed had any other wiring, water pipes, telephone lines etc. etc. He was very thorough, friendly, flexible, and just plain fun to be with, as well as good at what he does. One reason I chose Craig was that he was able to secure all the necessary subcontractors (the electrician, assistants etc. etc.) needed for the installation, freeing me from these burdens. In addition, he also handled much of the initial contact with Alabama Power Company, a very necessary task for all grid-tie systems. Craig and his subcontractors also secured the necessary equipment (backhoe, for example, for digging the trench lines) for all the work needed. Although there is another excellent installer in Alabama, Daryl Berquist (whom I've hired for servicing several of my battery-based systems, such as battery replacement and installing lightning arresters), I chose Craig. Daryl is very professional, honest, and methodical, among many other wonderful things. But it was Craig's securing the subcontractors (without any additional charge) that really won me over, for I had talked to Daryl before this, and he had visited my home as well to take site readings. (I had also met Daryl in 2000 during an annual solar tour where his home is showcased in Northern Alabama.)
