  • AMM Fencing

Alan provided a detailed and competitive estimate for our pergolas and fence. Teo and his crew did professional and quality construction. Myla helped to expedite the construction schedule to avoid congestion with the opening of a nearby school. Overall we were very pleased with the quality of the work and our interaction with the employees. AMM Fencing is recommended

  • Fence Dr.

I had the Fence Doctor out to fix a section of my fence that had fallen down. They were able to get out to my house quickly and did the work just as fast. The work was very good quality and I have had no problems with the fence since then. I highly recommend them for your fencing needs.

Nick and his crew at Fence Dr. absolutely nailed it!! I’m a pretty handy guy but I don’t do fences and the job was large, so I was apprehensive to say the least. Nick was able to give me some great ideas as well as pointed out somethings I wanted that just weren’t feasible and in the end, made my vision a reality. The price was very reasonable considering the cost of lumber, and the craftsmanship was outstanding and well worth it. Polite and professional the crew showed up on time, completed the job within the timeframe we specified and they cleaned up the job site when they finished. I absolutely love my new fence and I will definitely be recommending Fence Dr to anyone who has the need

The company and it’s employees were very professional! They had all the work done within 36 hours and after they were gone there was no trace of them being here besides my beautiful new fence! The fence still looks great, both myself and my neighbor are very pleased with the outcome! Thank You to the Fence Dr. Company and I will definitely be recommending this company to all my friends and family!

Nick from Fence Dr. Was great! Very professional and skilled at his craft. He installed 2 gates on both sides of my yard. The gates and fencing were done very well and look great. I will definitely give Nick a call when it’s time to update my fencing.

Michae was easy to work with, reliable and interacted well with my tenants. Took care of needed trash removal related to the job and brought some other needed repairs to my attention. Also his price was lower than my usual contractor's price. Will use Barefoot Builders again.

  • Ascencios Handy
    5.0
Jose Ascencio has been wonderful to work with! He and his team have able to handle our repairs, small and large. Jose is a great communicator, stays in touch along the way and is 100% reliable. All of his work is very professional, his pricing fair and transparent and I would highly recommend him. Among other projects, he dealt with a complicated electrical problem that took a lot of communication with PGE as well as an electrician and tenants and he handled it all incredibly smoothly. It’s a delight to work with him

  • Hilltop
    5.0
We are very happy with the result. It is solid! Hilltop takes pride in their work and wants to deliver high quality. After we saw how diligently Hilltop worked on the fence, we also decided to hire them for painting the house. In every large construction project, there are complications - some of them unexpected. Our protected redwoods trees provided a particular challenge requiring the fence contractor to work around the trees and their roots while not narrowing the drive way too much. This is where we really appreciated Hilltop's experience and communication. Hilltop asked us about our choices, for example, for the look of the fence or the positions of gates but was also great in pointing where these choices would result in problems later down the road we did not think of. Hilltop ultimately came up with great solutions. Hilltop also asked us frequently whether we are happy with the work and was willing to make the necessary adjustments and iterate until the job was done properly and to our satisfaction - sometimes going beyond of what was specified in the contract! This also applies to the job of painting our house. Finally, I want to share some lessons I learned when comparing different fence contractors: 1. Hilltop is one of the few contractors using screws rather than nails for their fences (and Jose from Hilltop fencing will point that out to you as well). This reflects the fact that Hilltop builds fences that are meant to last. Even though the new fence has not passed the test of time, I can already report that it is way more stable than compared to fences that are just nailed together and for which you can see the nails working their way out other time. 2. Pretty much all fence contractors use 8 foot posts for a 6 foot fence. In theory, this leaves 2 feet of the post for the foundation. And even though many fance contractors state the foundation will be 2 feet, the actual foundation will be a couple of inches short of that to, for example, account for unevenness of the terrain. I want to thank Hilltop for explaining this and answering countless other questions I had about the foundation and the fence. And I am happy report that Hilltop produced a solid foundation for our fence. 3. Ask whether disposing off the old fence includes disposing off the concrete

  • Gonzalez Fence Company
    5.0
They simply did an outstanding job from their timely submission of their bid, to setting a firm start and completion date and finishing on time and on budget. They commuted down from Cloverdale to our home near the Town of Sonoma daily, arriving by 7:30 pm and putting in a full day. High quality finished product - really outstanding work. I would enthusiastically endorse hiring them for any fence project. A high quality professional contractor

  • Robert Jasso Painting
    5.0
Robert Jasso Painting was excellent! I have been dreading painting the exterior of my house for years. Apart from just the painting, there was damage that needed to be repaired due to the ravages of time and curious, badly planned "improvements" done by previous owners. Robert, Octavio and I went over my house with a fine-toothed comb and figured out what had to be done. If there were some construction-type issues that were beyond the scope of his painting crew, Robert recommended some fantastic contractors that were able to fix the problems. He has been in the business for years and has seen everything which is an important virtue when looking for painters in the SF Bay Area. Robert, his right-hand man, Octavio and the rest of the crew worked quickly, quietly and efficiently. Everything from the scaffolding to the final touches were great. I am getting a lot of positive feed back from my neighbors about how my house looks. I cannot recommend Robert Jasso Painting enough. Thank you
    Joe B.

    Fencing FAQ

    1. How much does it cost to install a fence?

Answer: The average cost to install a fence is $2,600. A variety of factors will impact the overall cost of fencing installation, such as the length of the fence, the materials you choose, and local labor costs. Fencing projects using the lowest cost materials and with lower labor costs can cost as little as $1 to $6 per linear foot, while projects using the highest cost materials and with higher labor costs may be as high as $15 to $45.

    2. Do I need a permit to build a fence around a yard?

Answer: Whether you’ll need a permit to build a fence around your yard will depend on your city or county's local codes. Many metropolitan and suburban areas require a permit to install most fencing, but they may not for fences situated behind a house as opposed to in front of it or fences that don’t run within a certain distance of the road. To find out if you’ll need a permit to fence your yard, reach out directly to your local government office.

    3. What is the cheapest fence to install?

Answer: The cheapest fencing to install is chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing is typically cheaper than other fence types because the materials cost less, and installation is generally quicker and easier than other options. Chain-link fencing is affordable, easy to install, and low maintenance. However, it’s usually considered less secure than other options and doesn’t increase resale value as much as fences made of different materials.

    4. Is a wood or vinyl fence cheaper?

Answer: Wood fences are generally cheaper than the cost of vinyl fences. While the cost of materials for wood and vinyl fences is usually very similar, the labor cost associated with installing a vinyl fence is higher. Wood fencing is also easier to install than vinyl fencing, making it possible to save money by making wood fence installation a DIY project. It’s also possible to DIY install a vinyl fence.

    5. What is the life expectancy of a vinyl fence?

Answer: Vinyl fencing can be expected to last between 10 and 30 years. Vinyl fencing is generally low maintenance, but proper care will ensure it lasts as long as possible. Its long life span and high return on investment make vinyl fencing a popular option for many homeowners.

    6. What type of fence adds to the property value?

Answer: Installing quality fencing, no matter the fence type, will generally add value to your property. In general, fences made of longer-lasting, lower-maintenance, and more attractive materials—like wrought-iron, composite, or vinyl—add more value to a property than fences made of lower-cost or less attractive materials, like chain-link. To ensure your fencing adds as much value to your home as possible, be sure it’s properly permitted, approved by your homeowners association (if you have one), and installed properly.
