"After a nightmarish experience with Lowe's I didn't know where to find a trust worthy contractor so I asked my friend GOOGLE and he didn't fail me, Posted a message, Kirk contacted me and he had great reviews. The rest is happy Missy with contractor history :D First, I must say that Kirk had one of the nicest dispositions and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the work that I wanted done in my house. This started with a quote for doors and ended up with doors, crown molding and new lighting. The crown molding is beautiful and gives the rooms a finished look. The lighting is gorgeous and my doors look amazing. I was stunned by how exceptional my experience with Kirk's company. Now for the doors, Kirk was really honest about what it would take, expeditious responses, no surprises, no extra charges, no cutting corners, no excuses, he put care and professionalism into everything he worked on, he is responsible and his work ethic is unbeatable, (we may be tied on that one) good integrity and simply good quality work delivered as promised. He took pride in his work and he went to great lengths to meet my expectations. Kirk was very professional and communicative throughout the entire process. Kirk is such a nice guy. The moment I met him I knew he was my guy and he didn't disappoint. Never did I feel like he was taking advantage or trying to up sell me with upgrades I didn't need. I am stunned by how exceptional my experience was with Kirk's company. Now for the DOOR SUPPLIER, we ran into some snags, a lot of snags, delays, excuses, wrong color hardware more than once, multiple errors over and over again from wrong doors delivered to doors cut wrong, then the delays... Kirk had to modify his last batch to make them fit as we both wanted this job done and this new supplier out of our lives... Words alone can not describe the hellish experience we had with them that dragged on over what seemed like an eternity (several months) but Kirk hung in there till the very end and got the job done and on his own accord wrote off the remaining balance due given the terrible experience with his supplier that he states will never use again. IMPRESSIVE and appreciated. Huttig's door review is coming and will be posted for them soon. But first, I need a few drinks for that one. A five star rating is not enough for the workmanship, personal attention and professionalism that Kirk has given me. He assisted me with non quoted repairs that I needed but couldn't do myself and was so patient with me, i'm a talker :) Due to unforeseeable circumstances with my mom and cancer I have not reached out for a bathroom remodel job we discussed but I will be working on both bathrooms, kitchen and other stuff with him. Unquestionably the go to place for all future work needed! What did I learn thanks to Lowe's? I started my project the wrong way. The best way is to find a contractor who you can trust and let them order the products from a dealer they trust (unless it's a new supplier to them) Going to a store and letting them pick a contractor who will be working on my home was a big risk and it was all still wrong which is why I needed to find Kirk. I would like to thank Lowe's for the rotten year long experience that ultimately led me to my new contractor Kirk <3 Warm Regards, Missy Ortiz"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Any issue that affects the structural integrity or soundness of a home is considered a structural issue. In addition to foundation cracks, other signs of structural issues include roof leaks, bowing walls, sloping floors, gaps around windows and doors, and more.

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.

The best way to determine if ceiling cracks are structural is to hire a ceiling contractor to inspect the cracks and provide a professional opinion. That said, you might be able to make an educated guess based on the size and appearance of the crack. Larger cracks, cracks accompanied by sagging or discoloration, and cracks that travel from the ceiling down the walls are all signs of structural issues.
