Recent Fence Company Reviews in Virginia Beach

  • R&R Facility Services
My fence had got knocked down by a storm including my gate. He fixed the gate, did a great job compared to a company who charges you for $5000. He realized that my gate is too big for my area, and he make it fit perfectly. Quality of work is excellent.

  • A1 Lawn & Landscaping Service Inc
Utterly fantastic - work began less than 3 weeks from 1st contact. Completed in 3 days. The masonry crew literally jogged from task to task. The workers were friendly and explained what they were doing. Upon completion, there were a few things that Steve Hassan (the owner) noted that he'd like to take care of. His team came back to smooth some uneven ground and reinforced the new fence where he saw that it might warp. I've worked with and around contractors for years and this level of follow-up is far and few between. The total price was very competitive, but a real bargain based on how efficiently and quickly the job was completed. There were no "other" jobs that mysteriously took the team away for intermittent periods. Bottomline: As a career Navy family, we deeply appreciate honest, valuable work - and this was definitely it! Would hire again without looking anywhere else

  • Armor Fence & Deck
William and his crew were awesome. I contacted William about the job and he was out to give a quote the same day. Work commenced immediately. Despite having issues with delivery from local hardware stores Armor managed to get the trees removed and my fence completed in a weeks time. My family could not be happier. I cannot recommend Armor highly enough

  • Jackson Builders LLC
Great experience. Fair pricing, communicated with me and ensured the project was done the right way! I would definitely recommend and hire again.

  • Twisted Metal Iron Works
I called Richard at Twisted Metal around 11:30 to see if he would come look at the gate. He said he could come at 1:30 that same day, so I was thrilled. Not only did he look at it, but he also repaired the hinges during the same visit. This is a gate we have loved for years and now we will have it to enjoy for years to come, thanks to Richard. It is a challenge today to find someone who is willing to take on a small job, especially in such a timely manner. I would highly recommend his services with any iron works project

  • Pegram Fencing
Our experience with Pegram Fencing was exceptional. We live in Germany and have a rental property in Yorktown. Our tenants reached-out to have our leaning backyard fence repaired. We chose to contact Daniel based on his awesome reviews on Yelp. He went to our property and explained our options thoroughly over email (with pictures, which was very helpful since we couldn’t physically be there to see the work in person). On the day of the job (which was to replace 4 wooden posts), he also resecured some pickets around the yard which were loose, cut off the bottom of pickets on gates to allow full opening without dragging the ground, and tightened the gate latches with new screws. We really appreciated his attention to detail. Highly recommend without reservations

  • Quality Built Exteriors
Quality is indeed an appropriate name for this company. They put up the fence in two days. The guys were very respectful of my property, and the construction was top notch. I have a 38yr old Japanese maple that is along the fence line and has large intrusive roots. They were able to keep this beautiful tree safe; I really am impressed by that. The management involved was a pleasure to work with. Great positive experience

Fencing FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to install a fence?

Answer: The average cost to install a fence is $2,600. A variety of factors will impact the overall cost of fencing installation, such as the length of the fence, the materials you choose, and local labor costs. Fencing projects using the lowest cost materials and with lower labor costs can cost as little as $1 to $6 per linear foot, while projects using the highest cost materials and with higher labor costs may be as high as $15 to $45.

  2. Do I need a permit to build a fence around a yard?

Answer: Whether you’ll need a permit to build a fence around your yard will depend on your city or county's local codes. Many metropolitan and suburban areas require a permit to install most fencing, but they may not for fences situated behind a house as opposed to in front of it or fences that don’t run within a certain distance of the road. To find out if you’ll need a permit to fence your yard, reach out directly to your local government office.

  3. What is the cheapest fence to install?

Answer: The cheapest fencing to install is chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing is typically cheaper than other fence types because the materials cost less, and installation is generally quicker and easier than other options. Chain-link fencing is affordable, easy to install, and low maintenance. However, it’s usually considered less secure than other options and doesn’t increase resale value as much as fences made of different materials.

  4. Is a wood or vinyl fence cheaper?

Answer: Wood fences are generally cheaper than the cost of vinyl fences. While the cost of materials for wood and vinyl fences is usually very similar, the labor cost associated with installing a vinyl fence is higher. Wood fencing is also easier to install than vinyl fencing, making it possible to save money by making wood fence installation a DIY project. It’s also possible to DIY install a vinyl fence.

  5. What is the life expectancy of a vinyl fence?

Answer: Vinyl fencing can be expected to last between 10 and 30 years. Vinyl fencing is generally low maintenance, but proper care will ensure it lasts as long as possible. Its long life span and high return on investment make vinyl fencing a popular option for many homeowners.

  6. What type of fence adds to the property value?

Answer: Installing quality fencing, no matter the fence type, will generally add value to your property. In general, fences made of longer-lasting, lower-maintenance, and more attractive materials—like wrought-iron, composite, or vinyl—add more value to a property than fences made of lower-cost or less attractive materials, like chain-link. To ensure your fencing adds as much value to your home as possible, be sure it’s properly permitted, approved by your homeowners association (if you have one), and installed properly.
