I have been a maintenance person and handyman for 4 years now. I got my start in Washington state helping low-income properties remain in working order. I was also a pest control professional in Washington and I know how to tackle just about any problem you might have. I've built chicken coops on utility trailers, decks, fencing, a chevron fireplace veneer, and furniture. I've repaired water heaters, fridges, microwaves, sinks, ovens, ranges, washing machines, dryers , light electrical systems, drywall, light plumbing, and more. You can paint over existing wallpaper if you select wallpaper that is designed to be paintable. This type of paper is meant to add texture to walls. Alternatively, if you have old wallpaper you’d like to cover up, you can often paint over that instead of removing it. However, it needs to be smooth, damage-free, and non-textured. Otherwise, any bumps, tears, and texture will show through the paint.

The two most common reasons wallpaper does not stick are a lack of preparation and improper adhesive. Be sure to use the wallpaper paste designed for the type of paper you choose. Before beginning your project, make sure the walls are clean and free of dust, grease, and oils.

The life span of peel-and-stick wallpaper is about five years, depending on the quality of the wallpaper and how well you prep the wall before applying.
