"They were only interested in selling me a new unit, not repairing my old one, even temporarily. I have an "elderly" heat pump that needs a compressor. I intend to replace this heatpump within two years but CANNOT do it now so I asked them to repair the unit. They refused because "Trane no longer makes the compressor for that unit and we won't install a generic one." Not, "we can't install" but we won't install. When I told them that I absolutely could not afford to replace the unit at this time, they still refused to work on it with "liability" as the excuse. So I will find someone who will install an aftermarket compressor and then pay THEM the $18,000 when I replace the unit in two years. it's a fairly large unit so replacing it will be a lucrative job for someone. I believe they saw a woman who would just write them a check and not question it."

In most cases, a gas stove should be installed by a licensed plumber. Connecting gas appliances carries many risks, chief among them a fatal gas leak. If your home is already set up with the proper gas hookups, you may be able to DIY the installation (or save money by hiring a local handyperson or basic appliance installer near you rather than a plumber). Rather than going through this time-consuming process, you can remove your old electric dryer and have a pro install a new gas dryer.

Some natural gas furnaces can be converted to propane with a conversion kit, but not all models are compatible. Consult a licensed HVAC pro to determine if conversion is possible and cost-effective for your system. The process involves changes to burner orifices and safety controls, and must be completed to code.
