"Our church building is 60+ years old and has had numerous plumbing problems over the years. We have used many local Plumbing and Heating companies through the years. None of the others could even compete with Grogg's Plumbing Co. The two servicemen that came for the job were prompt, knowledgeable, professional, through and cleaned up any mess at the end of the job. If we have the need, we will definitely be calling on you for any repairs. I wish that you had local resources available, (Clarksburg), but am more than pleased with the service work, and service men that did the work. Insulation covers, however, are still an excellent idea as they can reduce the chance of your pipe freezing by keeping the pipes closer to the temperature of the water inside the pipe.

A garage ceiling needs a vapor barrier if it’s a heated garage or if you’re installing insulation in the ceiling. Without a vapor barrier, you risk moisture issues and mold growth. If you have an unheated garage and don’t plan on installing insulation that could get wet and harbor mold, the ceiling doesn't need a vapor barrier.

At a minimum, blown-in insulation lasts 20 to 30 years. Cellulose and sheep’s wool come from natural materials, so they likely max out at around 30 years. Fiberglass and rockwool feature artificial materials that boast lengthy lifespans, up to 50 years, or even longer in some cases. As always, this timeline assumes you don’t run into any issues, such as flooding or mold, that shorten the lifespan.

Each of the three types of wool insulation has particular disadvantages. While their R-value is higher, they all cost more than fiberglass versions. Installing mineral wool and sheep wool requires protective gear. Because of its vulnerability to insects, chemicals are used in its production. Hemp wool is more costly to install than other types because additional tools and labor are involved.

Avoid sleeping in a house immediately after spray foam insulation is applied due to the off-gassing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These fumes can cause respiratory irritation, headaches, and other health issues. It’s recommended to wait 24 to 72 hours after installation to allow the foam to fully cure and the fumes to dissipate. The exact time frame depends on the type of spray foam used and the ventilation during the application, but your installation pro can advise you on the best timeline.
