"Allied Fence and Deck was quick to respond to my post. All my questions and concerns were addressed prior to arriving at my home. Allied’s representative was courteous and respectful. He arrived promptly and gave me a reasonable estimate to remove 2 downed pine trees and several dead boxwoods. The pricing was more than fair. Work was performed efficiently, and professionally. I am pleased with the results and will continue to use them in the future."

"Job was performed by the date agreed upon. The 'Tree Dude' as we'll call him since I am horrible with names and already forgot his was a very nice/polite guy who was confident with the job needing to be performed and did it well. The work itself was a tree cut down and removal and was performed very professionally. Post job cleanup was thorough and considerate of surrounding areas."

"My experience with Good Roots was good. The two gentlemen were very courteous and professional: and, they cleaned up after pruning my trees. The only reason I didn't give Good Roots a star rating of "5" is because I won't know if the pruning helped or hurt the health of my trees until next spring. I also felt the price was high for 1 1/2 hours of work, even though I do realize the danger involved in climbing trees. I still believe the amount charged was higher than it should have been. We'll see..."

"Mr. Charles Markley was fast in responding to my request on Angie's List.  He came out the next day and gave me a quote which I felt was fair for the size and mass of the trees to be taken down.  I did not have them do the clean up because a friend wanted the wood.  They arrived on time and worked very efficiently.  Mr. Markley was friendly and professional.  They did a great job.  I would definitely use them again.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Trees are beneficial to the environment and wildlife. If you have an old tree, but it’s healthy, it may be best to avoid cutting it down. However, if it’s showing signs of bug infestation, disease, or is potentially hazardous, then you should contact a tree removal company to cut it down.

If you are unsure whether you should have it removed or not, then speak with an arborist to determine what is best.

Steer clear of the area and contact your utility company immediately. It will have a website portal and/or a phone number to report downed trees and electrical issues. If the tree appears to be on public land, you may want to call your local government and report the issue there, too.

Debris removal is often included in the overall cost of having a tree removed from your property. However, tree maintenance service companies do not always include debris removal in their pricing, so ask any contractors offering tree trimming cost estimates whether or not removal is included. If you want to keep the wood mulch, ask if they charge extra for it as well.

The amount of time it takes for a tree trunk to rot depends on several factors, including the tree’s size, species, and environmental conditions. It can take anywhere from a few years to several decades for a tree’s trunk to rot. A tree stump, on the other hand, can take up to 10 years to disappear after it’s decayed naturally.

Any cutting of tree roots can hurt or kill a tree, which is why it's recommended you don’t do it unless the roots are damaging or invasive on a nearby structure like your home. You should never cut more than 15 percent of above-ground tree roots at one time. If you have any questions about cutting tree roots, contact your local arborist.
