"Although the work done and the crew demeanor were excellent, JES had failed to obtain a plumbing permit beforehand as required by the county. Recommend anyone contemplating work obtaiin all necessary permits BEFOREHAND! We were in limbo for a month waiting for the permit and inspection. After the work was done, the inspector refused to inspect until the plumbing permit was obtained. JES demanded partial payment and we could not use the back half of our basement for about a month."

"I had a plumbing problem that needed immediate attention. After calling local plumbers to no avail, I went to Angie's list and called the first plumber on the list. He called back immediately and said he'd be there within the hour. He showed up when he said he would, politely introduced himself and his assistant, and went right to work. Not only did they resolve the blockage, they discovered the break in the pipe that caused the problem. These two guys worked like a well-oiled machine. They were focused, efficient, and professional; they explained everything they were doing; and they treated my 94-year-old mother like a queen! I'd hire these guys back in a minute! They are superb professionals!"

"I had a pipe burst in the basement of our rental property, Flood Crew was referred by our realtor. They arrived quickly after the pipe was fixed by our plumber, demoed, and dried out the areas, even handled packing out our furniture and placing carefully in a pod storage while the work was being done. They did mold testing and made sure everything was safe, the best part was that they dealt with the insurance and we didn’t have to do anything."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Fix your leaking shower ASAP. By the time you realize your shower is leaking, chances are it’s been leaking for a while. Consider how often you use the shower to determine how much water has passed through the leak. Because shower leaks don’t fix themselves or get better with time, leaving them unchecked can lead to more damage and higher repair expenses. Use temporary fixes, but you should aim to have a professional repair your shower immediately.

Unfortunately, yes. If your well pump continues working when the flow of water is completely blocked, the motor will burn up. The energy has nowhere to go, thanks to the blockage, so it turns inward. The end result? A ruined well pump and a depleted bank account (once you shop for a replacement.)

In most cases, yes, homeowners insurance will cover burst pipes, even if they run through your foundation. Not only that, but most home insurance companies will also cover any foundation repair you need done that resulted from the plumbing leak because your insurer will view the leak as an unforeseen and non-preventable issue.

Both plumbing inspection cost and length can vary widely based on the specifics of a property. For a larger home, historic home, or rental complex, a full plumbing inspection can take a full day. Put aside at least eight hours from the start of the visit to ensure that you'll be available to answer any of the plumber's questions. However, a thorough inspection of the average one-story to two-story home lasts just two to three hours.

Pipes most often burst during winter and early spring because those seasons experience the coldest temperatures that can freeze pipes. Pipes typically begin to freeze when the outside temperature falls below 20 degrees Fahrenheit—but it’s not a hard and fast rule.

The largest risk is any period of time when outdoor temperatures fall below freezing for six hours or more. That’s an average winter night in many areas of the United States, so it’s best to take precautions before winter begins, like insulating your pipes.
