Customers say: True professional

"Our home is in a remote location. Plumber came analyzed the issue with water quality and pressure. He made a trip into town and got necessary supplies and worked until we had correct water pressure and quality. Very professional and explained how to maintain the system."

"

I initially had a poor interaction with Mike that did not result in solving the above plumbing problem above. However, he has since connected with me and resolved the issue fairly.  He did an excellent job the first time I hired him (successfully unclogging a tub drain). Even though the second time we hired him was not successful (and we had to hire a second plumber to resolve the problem) we will use him in the future because he reached out to resolve our concerns in a professional manner.

"I cannot say enough good things about Rich and his crew at Custom Craft Environmental. After having our sump get overwhelmed by 7+ inches of rain, we were lost. Made several calls to "national" water clean up companies with no reason. Rich was at our house 2 hrs after we called and his crew was there the next morning. They were efficient, helpful, knowledgeable, kind, punctual. Price was good and work was excellent. We highly, highly recommend."

"It went very well.  Despite the fact that I live in Tennessee and this company is in Boston, they helped me a great deal.  I can't remember what I actually paid them, but it seemed reasonable for what I got:  unlimited access to the decorator's assistance.   I had already chosen some of the elements needed for my bathroom remodel, but got bogged down over colors/curtains/light fixtures at the end.  I just needed some help in tying everything together.
Their decorator (Amanda Zettel) and I worked mainly through Pinterest;  I made a board of my bathroom, using pictures of what I'd chosen already, and she sent me links to items that she thought I would like in categories that I needed.  We also talked over the phone several times, and emailed, too.  I believe Homemade Design will also help you with vendors and purchasing, though I didn't use that service.  Amanda did send me to some new websites, and I chose my bathroom lights from one of them.  Amanda helped me choose the finish, the shades, and the placement of the fixtures, which I love.  They are unique and charming - thanks, Amanda!
She also sent me several names of paint colors to chose from for the bath.  Because of the variations in computer screen colors, some people might not be comfortable with this, but I wanted to be the one who actually picked the color.  I just felt a little overwhelmed at the huge selection, so Amanda was able to narrow my choices to a range that I could live with.  The color has been up on my wall for over a month now, and I'm very happy with it.
All in all, this was a very good experience, and I will definitely use Jeff and Amanda's help again!"

In this business, there are two kinds of people. The first would be the average company who works an area, doing the same jobs repetitively. The second, a company that has traveled state to state, completed jobs in every atmosphere, and with every request imaginable. We've done small bathroom remodels, to tile-animal art on private homes in upper class neighborhoods, to creating home decor and outside masterpieces completely out of tile, stone, marble, and about 35 other materials! Contact us for a free estimate within 45 miles from our home in Horicon, WI. We also handle intermediate electrical, masonry, remodels, demo, fencing, painting, intermediate plumbing, a lot of drywall of all types, and custom designs for household items such as cabinets, porches, decks, and more! This business is run by my dad, myself, my brothers, and 3 of my best friends. We work fast and accurately so you can hurry to enjoy your new home improvements/renovations! "Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

To maintain a walk-in tub, clean it regularly with non-abrasive cleaners. Periodically inspect the seals, jets, and faucets to ensure they remain functional and in good condition.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

Replacing faucets isn’t the easiest task, but with the tools and technical know-how, you can complete this project in an hour or two. If you don’t have any experience installing faucets, you’ll want to hire a plumber to do the work. The average service call cost of a plumber is $333, but it can also give you the opportunity to learn how to install one for future reference.

Brown stains in your toilet bowl are most likely limescale. Limescale happens from lime being left behind from hard water evaporating. Once dried out, the minerals also catch dirt and bacteria which eventually accumulate into the brown or blackish stain you see in your toilet. To remove thick and hard limescale from your toilet, use a mixture of vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda, and scrub with a metal scrubbing brush.

No, shower valves and cartridges are not universal. They must match and typically come from the same manufacturer. Mixing and matching different brands is unlikely to work and can cause issues like leaks or malfunctioning faucets. To find the correct replacement, check the old valve or cartridge for a brand name, model number, or serial number. If you cannot find this information, contact the manufacturer or check their website to determine which parts are compatible.
