"It went great. I highly recommend them. They were a pleasure to deal with. The person that came out for the estimate answered all of my questions. The estimate was fair. The work was done on schedule and with no problem. At completion, everything was explained to me. I used their electrician which worked out fine. After completion the radon test showed that my level was now undetectable."

"We hired PureTech to advise us on a real estate inspection that included a radon test. That test came back over the safety threshold. After meeting with Zach C, he advised us to make some repairs in the basement and to schedule a retest. We did and the results speak for themselves; the levels came back well into the safe zone. I couldn't be more pleased with the recommendations made by PureTech and Zach C specifically. Saved us a bundle in what could have been a nightmare, and now the sale of our home can proceed. Thank you PureTech!"

"Steve was very thorough and answered all of our questions. He tested things no other inspector we have had did, for example all the outlets. His report was sent to us quickly. He helped us decide which issues from the home inspection needed to be addressed right away and which could wait. He was clean and articulate. Very nice guy. Highly recommended."

"I met Ryan Amundson 2 yrs ago when my mom hired him to do a home inspection. Since then, my daughter, my son, and myself have all hired him to do home inspections on our new home purchases. He is AWESOME! Very professional! He is very thorough but still personal. Even when I interrupt him with my many questions, he is always willing to take time to explain things, show me items, and give me advise. His reports are easy to understand and always accompanied by great photos of any issues. I would highly recommend A-MAX and Ryan Amundson. You wonâ  t be sorry!"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Yes, many systems include warranties for performance. Confirm terms with your installer.

The cost for a radon mitigation system typically ranges from $800 to $1,500, with an average around $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the severity of the radon issue, and the type of system required. Your home's foundation type also significantly impacts the cost. For example, sealing and ventilating an unfinished basement might cost around $4,600, while encapsulating a crawl space without a foundation slab can range from $1,500 to $15,000.

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

There are steps you can take as a homeowner to remediate radon yourself. While a radon reduction professional can make the biggest impact in your home, you can make efforts to improve radon levels on your own by sealing cracks, increasing ventilation, and testing for radon regularly.
