The only pools that don’t need grounding are those without electrical components, such as small inflatable pools. If you frequently use your swimming pool, an annual inspection is ideal. For pools over 20 years old, get an inspection twice a year. If you have a new pool, are selling your house, or your property went through a severe weather event, schedule a pool inspection as soon as possible.

If you’re wondering how to find a leak in an aboveground pool, the process is the same as it is for an in-ground pool. Note that the vinyl liner in aboveground pools is fairly thin, so sharp objects easily puncture it. Additionally, the liner can wear down after constant exposure to pool chemicals, especially when chlorine levels are higher than they should be. For these reasons, small holes in the vinyl liner often cause leaks, but you can easily detect them with the dye test.

If a pool turns green after adding salt, there’s a good chance the salt is the problem. Certain brands of salt have high levels of iron that cause pool water to take on a green hue. Test your pool water to determine if this is the issue. The green color will usually filter out. Brush the sides of the pool to knock the iron off.

This is just one reason a pool can turn green that is specific to adding salt. Many other reasons a pool can turn green include algae growth, low chlorine levels, a faulty filter, etc.
