"I had my chimney inspected and cleaned, and the whole experience was excellent. The technician was on time, professional, and helped explain the condition of the chimney and what was being done for me to understand. The inspection was thorough, the cleaning was done efficiently, and everything was left spotless afterward. I really appreciated the clear communication and honest recommendations. I’d definitely use this company again and highly recommend them to anyone needing chimney services."

"Daisy sweeps (Rodney) cleaned my chimney. I called in November in Wisconsin and it was in the 20's and only getting colder. Furnace repair service told me chimney was plugged and unsafe. Called and talked to Peggy of Daisy Sweeps (An Angel) and told her my problem. I had called 6 other places with your service, and they would not help me. It was 3pm Friday aft when I called, Rodney was at my house 8:30 pm same evening. Truly did save my house and life. Home is 117 years old 3-story houses. Rodney was concerned about the age of the chimney. But after almost 2 hours he got it cleared. Thank God for people like Rodney Peggy. A company that comes at 8:30pm on a Friday night and does not leave till 10:15 with an 1 1/2 hour drive to get home shows they care. I have given their name to 2 people already and will give out their name to my dying day. As Rodney says... A dying breed."

"All the workers that came to our house were efficient, helpful and reasonably on time.  But the company office appeared to be poorly organized to respond if something out of the ordinary occurred.  The inspecting and cleaning of chimneys was done quickly and cleanly.  The installation of the wood burning insert was scheduled in 2 steps.  First the unit would be installed, then a week later another person would perform first start-up and explain how to use and maintain it.  When the installers arrived they discovered the box had been opened and several parts were missing.  They called store right away and left a message.  They did as much as they could without getting a call back from the store, so they left the job incomplete.  A day passed and we heard nothing from the store.  I called the salesman I had worked with and left a message.  No call back.  My wife called and by interrogating the receptionist learned they were working on the problem, were trying to order the missing parts.  I called again and caught the salesman at his desk.  He claimed to not know the current state of the problem.  "It's in the hands of the parts department."  Unhappy, my wife tried again demanding contact with someone superior to the salesman. She was given the number for Ken and I called him.  Now I learned they were going to take parts from a demo unit and install them on the start up date to meet the schedule commitment.  On the start up date the installer called to tell us he was delayed 2 hours at another site.  While waiting for him the city inspector showed up when the store had scheduled his visit.  We explained the installation had not been completed, he glanced at it quickly, and left saying something about rescheduling.  When the installer arrived he finished the installation and did a good job of teaching us about the unit.  He called the store and left a message about the city inspector.  The store did not call us back.  I placed calls to both the store inspection department and the city inspector.  Neither of them returned my call so we can only assume that an understanding was reached between the store and the city and we are legal.
The unit appears to be well designed and performing as intended.

"$108 to come out and diagnose the problem whIch was just a crack drain pipe receiver:) so they come out to repair it for an additional $249.83. I’m a bit confused by the price and ask how much was the part? They won’t give me that amount, they tell me it’s charged per job. Call to find out how much the part actually cost from Lenix, cost $67. They were at our house less than 20 minutes I was charged $180 for for 20 min. of service:( Won’t use them again:( I was also promised a phone call back to discuss a possible credit and did not receive one...no surprise:("

"Our water heater quit on a Saturday. Although there was not an emergency service available to replace the heater before Monday, a technician did return my call and thoroughly and patiently discussed the symptoms and helped verify that we had safely turned off the gas and power. He arranged for a visit early Monday, and our water heater was replaced the next day.
We had a different installer for the water heater that died. We much preferred the attitude and efficiency of Landmark Services compared to our previous installer. We will continue to call on them for maintenance and repair if needed.

"We purchased our new home and I wanted to be proactive. So in August I contacted a vendor (not Fireside Hearth & Home) to have our two fireplaces inspected and cleaned. The vendor told us after scoping the fireplaces that they were fire hazards and not to be used!! He proceeded to give me a quote of $12,300 to repair with the installation of two wood burning inserts. I was shocked since the home inspection didn't say anything about this situation. I contacted the agents involved with this new information. We decided to get a second opinion (again not Fireside Hearth & Home). This vendor gave us a quote of $5,300 to get the fireplaces usable as wood burning fireplaces BUT this wasn't a permanent fix - just a 10 year fix. Still not satisfied and at the request of the our realty company to use one of their vendors we got a third bid. This was $10,000 for wood burning inserts but it didn't include running the electrical for the blowers of the units, replacement of vent caps on the chimney, or doing finish masonry work on the lower level fireplace. So in reality they were more expensive then the first quote!
Now what to do - the realty company and the previous owner were refusing to help with the unexpected expense. (This still p***** me off - but that's another story!) We decided to think about our options. We visited family over Thanksgiving and I noticed my sister-in-laws beautiful fireplace. I of course started asking questions and found it was a "Heat & Glow" gas insert with adjustable flames, lighting, blowers, etc. I was so excited I immediately got on-line and found Fireside Hearth & Home was a distributor in Madison. I then went on Angies List to see what their overall rating. After seeing and reading the opinions we went and talked with Rebecca. What a beautiful showroom they have and Rebecca was very, very helpful and knowledgeable about all their products. She wanted us to know up front that Christmas install was out of the question. We said we didn't have any issue with that because we were looking at the new year for install. Rebecca explained the pros and cons of the different wood burning and gas inserts. After having this information we decided on two gas inserts. We liked the size of the viewing window of the firebox of the gas insert compared to the wood burning insert and we decided we didn't want the mess or expense of wood. Rebecca scheduled the tech Jeff to come to our house and make sure the inserts we picked out would work for our application. Jeff showed up on time and was extremely knowledgeable about the product and the application. He studied and tweeked until he knew it was the best price and application.
We scheduled for install for today - January 21. Needless to say, as I'm writing this review I am sitting and enjoying the warmth and ambiance of my new fireplaces! The installer was prompt and professional. He laid down tarps and wore shoe booties to contain his mess. He thoroughly cleaned up and gave us a tutorial of the remote and its functions.
We would highly recommend Fireside Hearth & Home to anyone who is in the market for fireplace inserts."

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

Wood filler can be used to repair minor scratches, dents, and damages on wood veneer. Simply scrape the wood filler over the chipped or scratched area. Make sure to leave a little bit more than you need so you can sand it down for a smoother finish. Repaint or restrain the surface to ensure a consistent color.

Black stains appear on wood furniture when the surface comes in contact with water and metal for an extended time. It creates a chemical reaction that stains your wood black. Products that contain oxalic acid can remove these stains. Its bleach-like qualities can reverse the stains after a few rounds of application.

Professionals conduct lamp repair by diagnosing the issue, addressing electrical problems, replacing damaged parts, rewiring if needed, and testing to ensure safe operation.

Yes, there are several wood filler products on the market that look like wood. Your best bet is to take a cabinet door to your local hardware store to match the appropriate wood filler to your door. Some brands make filler that is masked to look like wood and can also be sanded, cut, stained, and painted.

Wood putty is made with a plastic adhesive, while wood filler is made from sawdust or wood products. The primary difference is their application: wood filler is used to repair the interior portions of wood, whereas wood putty is best for exterior sections because it contains chemicals that could damage the inside of the wood. If a crack or hole goes into the middle of the lumber, wood filler is the correct product for the job.
