As a cleaning company owner im really juggling three roles at once, business owner, employer, and service provider. I have strong organizing and scheduling skills to route crews and equipment to the right places on time. Project management skills I also have solid people skills such as hiring, training, and managing a crew. Basic finance and budgeting, tracking costs, payroll, pricing jobs, and keeping cash flow healthy. I have dealt with clients and handle complaints without losing my cool. I know cleaning standards and safety, understand chemicals, equipment, and OSHA rules well enough to keep everyone safe. For responsibilities, I’m in charge of finding and keeping clients through bids and outreach. Scheduling jobs and making sure the right team shows up for the right job

"We found everything and everyone to be very efficient and pleasant. There was one glitch, however, when the electrician didn't turn on the fuprnace before he left Everyone was very apologetic and things were rectified very quickly. Also, there was a loud banging noise when the furnace turned off. This also was rectified very quickly. The serviceman was very apologetic"

"I contacted 3 companies to do my mold remediation work. The first company gave me a quote over the phone without any inspection. The quote was subject to change based on what they may find when doing the work and was higher than the AdvantaClean quote. The second company came out and the inspector climbed up to the top of the drop-down stairway to the attic, looked around from that single position with a flashlight and took some pictures and provided a quote two days later. That quote was substantially higher than AdvantaClean. Dave came out, climbed up in the attic and crawled around to survey the situation and provided a quote the same day. When we accepted the quote we were provided with multiple options as to timing. We accepted the proposal on a Thursday they came out and completed the work the following Monday. The crew arrived on time. Made sure everything was covered or moved. The crew was friendly and professional. Did a thorough job cleaning up and vacuuming, left work area as clean or cleaner than what it was before. Would use again, but hope I won't need to."

"Steve and the crew were great to work with. They were flexible with scheduling the appointment and did a great job. Our ducts were quite dirty with dust and pet hair. I know our house is safer and our HVAC system will run efficiently thanks to their hard work."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Choosing a unit with higher BTUs can use more electricity if the BTUs are more than what’s necessary for your room size. However, choosing an AC with BTUs that match the size of your room or house, your unit will cool your space efficiently. On the flip side, choosing a system with not enough BTUs can cause the system to work harder to try to cool the space, leading to more electricity consumption and higher energy bills.

AC capacitors have a wide lifespan, ranging from five to 20 years, with an average of about 10 years. Many capacitors will last for the entire life of the air conditioning unit, and most homeowners only need to replace one once. A capacitor should only be replaced if an HVAC professional diagnoses a problem with it. Premature failure can be caused by overheating, power surges, or short circuits. You can help extend the life of your AC capacitor by scheduling regular AC maintenance each year.

To lower humidity quickly, run a dehumidifier or your home's air conditioner or turn on exhaust fans to extract moisture. These methods can quickly and effectively bring your home's humidity levels to a comfortable condition. However, you should consistently practice humidity-reducing tasks to maintain proper indoor humidity levels.

No, you don’t need a ductless unit in every room. Ductless AC units don't work the way that window units do, where the air doesn't travel outside that room. The indoor air handlers all attach to the outdoor condenser. While the air doesn't travel the way that traditional ductwork would, the ductless AC units create zones so that one part of the home can be cooler than another. They can spread effectively enough that indoor units only need to be placed in main living areas.

The $5,000 rule for HVAC systems helps homeowners decide whether to repair or replace an AC or furnace. Take the quote for the HVAC repair cost and multiply that by the age of the HVAC system. If the total is higher than $5,000, it’s more cost-effective to replace the system. If the total is lower than $5,000, consider repairing the system.
