"I had a dead elm (about 24" on stump) to remove. All the branches were on the side where I did not want the tree to fall. It would have been almost impossible to cut it down in a normal manner. Jason and crew were here when they said they would arrive. Jason used a high lift to cut the tree from the top down. In addition, there were flower beds and a small building to avoid. He cut the tree in manageable pieces and dropped them perfectly. It took about an hour to cut down the tree. His employees on the ground, stacked the wood and branches in an orderly manner. After the tree was cut it did not look like a bomb had went off and I was very pleased. Next he ground up a 24" red oak stump and did a fantastic job of that. I could not be more pleased with the work they performed and the cost was well worth it. If you are in need of this type of work get Jason and crew you will be very happy with his work and the conditions he leaves after he is done!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The decision to add a dog fence to your property depends on several factors. A fence can be a good investment for pet safety, particularly in areas with hazards like busy roads. It helps contain dogs prone to roaming or those with a powerful hunting instinct, It also prevents accidents and neighborly disputes if your pet likes to venture onto their property. Also, by installing a traditional fence, you will also gain privacy. Some local regulations may also require homeowners with dogs to install a fence.

The average cost to install a fence that is 200 feet in length is $4,600, but this largely depends on the type of fence you build. For instance, a 200-linear-foot redwood fence costs between $3,600 and $7,000.

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.

If possible, it is beneficial to paint both sides of your fence to protect the fence more completely from the elements. Painting both sides of your fence will create a more consistent appearance as well. However, the time and cost involved in painting both sides of the fence may cause people to paint only the side they see.

The best type of temporary fencing depends on its intended purpose. For example, if you need it for added security, to ensure the safety of children and animals, or to keep pests out of a garden, the ideal material will differ. For simply warning people away from a construction project, plastic orange fencing may be sufficient. Barricade fencing is a good choice for blocking off small areas. If you need to protect an area from trespassing, theft, or vandalism, more robust security fencing is necessary. Once you understand the primary function, you can select the most durable and cost-effective material for your specific project and yard size.
