"Didn't show several times to a rewire job that he already had a hefty deposit on. I HAD TO SUE HIM TO TRY AND GET MY MONEY BACK. He showed up at court and tried to tell me he would pay me if I would just skip the hearing. I said I wasn't going to do that but would allow the commissioner to leave it open in case he didn't pay me as he claimed he would. The commissioner agreed to leave it open. Amos, wrote me a check...and then an hour later stopped payment! Yep, that's right. That's why I asked the commissioner to leave it open. At this point I knew he is so sketchy I had a feeling he would do something like this. So not only, do I have to try and get my deposit back but he pushed me back months on my house! Also, he is leaving to live in Spain and isn't planning on coming back. You won't see any deposit you put down with him but he will try to buy a lot of time by rescheduling, etc...His house has been for sale and he even did several recent price reductions to try and get it sold quicker! When we showed up for the 2nd hearing he tried lying but luckily I had things in writing that acknowledge he knows he owes me the money."

Often, your existing ceiling fan can accommodate adding a light fixture. The wiring is typically below the fan motor. If you’re adding a ceiling fan to where a light fixture used to be, ensure the electrical mounting box is rated for that use or retrofit one in the location. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

There are several types of ceiling fans, each with their own purpose or advantage. A standard ceiling fan works for most spaces, but low-profile ceiling fans are better suited to rooms with low ceilings. You can also find ceiling fans with lights, energy-efficient ceiling fans, and retractable blade ceiling fans.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example: 

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.
