"Overall I was very pleased with the work that Concrete Craft did on my garage floor. The floor was 35 years old with several cracks and a lot of spalling. The coatings that were used brought back a better-than new finish. The personnel that came out were professional and friendly and very concerned about doing a complete and thorough job. I would strongly recommend Concrete Craft for your garage floor re-surfacing. In addition, Concrete Craft was very competitive priced."

"Steve was excellent removing my old asphalt driveway and then pouring a new concrete driveway! He contacted me the same day I posted the job to Angi's List. He scheduled the job within a week. He then completed the job in one day! Very happy with the results."

Small jobs welcome

"Dave is a great guy and put down an awesome looking flaked epoxy floor in my garage. The garage is truck repair shop and gets put through the ringer, heavy duty vehicles, heavy equipment, oxy-acetylene torches, and many other things. Flooring has held its own and has taken no damage - and it looks great. Dave applied it himself and was very clear on what exactly was going in to the job (cost and product). Highly recommend."

Epoxy Flooring FAQs, answered by experts

A concrete seal can protect your garage floor from water and stains as can an epoxy coating. The main difference is that epoxy is much more durable and better for heavy-duty wear and tear—it’s used in more industrial and commercial settings. If you’re just using the garage as storage for tools and your car, concrete sealer will do just fine. But if your garage doubles as a workshop for side projects and auto repair, epoxy will hold up better.

Concrete is extremely porous. Without a proper sealing, it will absorb just about anything it comes in contact with, including water and ice. During the colder months with freeze-thaw cycles, this could cause the concrete to crack and become damaged in other ways. You always want to seal your cleaned concrete surfaces after they’ve completely dried out.

Always seal concrete stain to protect against wear and preserve the color. This applies to acid- and water-based stains but not always to concrete paint. Many paints designed for outdoor use contain ingredients designed to protect and waterproof without the need for additional sealant. Fortunately, learning how to seal concrete is something most DIY-savvy homeowners can tackle.

Unlike staining concrete, painting concrete often results in chips and peeling over time. You can expect numerous touchups over the years if the concrete is in a high-traffic area. Since concrete paints are opaque, you may also find it more difficult to get the exact color results you want. Lastly, painting concrete can make it much more slippery unless you mix in an additive for traction.

As with anything you buy, be wary of prices that seem too good to be true. Some low-cost flooring products can contain chemicals that release harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the form of fumes that can be inhaled or dust that can cause skin conditions.

Even good-quality products can be dangerous for DIY-ers who don’t take proper precautions. Always carefully read manufacturer instructions and wear the recommended protective gear when working with paints and other chemicals. You can also hire a local garage flooring pro with the experience and equipment needed to perform the installation safely with no lingering fumes or debris.
