"The Smart Home features they installed, such as thermostat and door locks, etc. do not always work. For example, the Honeywell thermostat can no longer be operated from our phones and is difficult to install. Remote door locks are also unpredictable."

Naudio Systems was formed in 2010 with two members. Chris Insko and Scott Pipal. We will always talk direct with the customer, even if we don't do the job ourselves. We currently do most of the work ourselves, but do occassionally subcontract it out to only our most trusted contractors. Every one who represents Naudio is background checked and drug tested. We will never charge a trip charge for problems with your equipment, and will never leave you out of the planning processes. If you do put a review of us on here, we will give you a free HDMI cable, whether it was a good review or not!

Home Automation questions, answered by experts

Home flood detection systems are worth it for the peace of mind they can provide, especially if you live in an old home with poor pipework, own a second home left unoccupied for long periods, or live in a flood-prone area. Some insurers even offer discounts to homeowners with detectors in place, helping to offset the costs.

Regular filter changes and annual service checks maintain optimal function.

The difference between smart home and home automation technology is that home automation is a more comprehensive home control system. It requires more expertise and work to install and set up, but homeowners have greater control over the various areas and functions in the home via their smartphone. Smart home technology is generally easier to install and set up. But it typically needs an internet connection to work as intended, which can limit functionality if there’s a disruption in internet service.

This is the topic of much debate, though there is no “better,” as it depends on personal preferences. Some of the components of a wireless system keep working when the power goes out, as they are battery-powered. On the other hand, a wireless system typically connects to your modem and router. Wired systems use landlines to communicate, which never go out on their own unless they’re physically cut.

Smart switches work with pretty much any light. However, if you plan on using a dimming feature on your smart switch, any LED bulbs you use need to be the dimmable kind. It’s more the wiring of your existing lights that can be a problem. Some smart light switches need a neutral wire, and old houses (built before 1985) don’t always have these. Always check if the model you want needs neutral wiring to operate.
