Things to look out for when choosing a remodel company I was so excited to get started on our kitchen remodel. First it was just going to be the kitchen but turned out being our entire main floor plus some. The demo went amazing hardly any dust and things seemed to be running along great. I thought people always say this is horrible to live through, I was glad I felt like it was not going to be that way. Until things started slipping through the cracks, communication was a problem. Pretty soon I found myself making calls to follow up on what is next. You never knew if anyone was coming back the next day because scheduling was done the night before. Then things went to frustrating to worse, I am a reasonable person and know there will be bumps along the way. The way things were heading were not acceptable, the designer was fired. I started to work with Andrew the office manager/designer and thought things would be better, but soon he kept giving me the round around and could never give me a straight answer on questions I had or follow ups. There was a lot of punch list stuff left to do and months went by with no one coming. I can’t even tell you how many times I had to follow up with Century Kitchens and Bath and got nowhere. Next I tried calling the Owner Steve he said he will be on site to make sure the job got done and done right. Well that was just as bad, everything he touched I had to have someone else come in behind him and fix his work. I had to point obvious stuff to him. Each time he was here he left his 87yr old father with dementia in the car with no heat, for hours. Just think wow if this is how he treats his father now wonder this job has gone to crap. So since this job started in July 2021 and still not done, we have had to do punch list stuff I had asked over and over to be completed and was not. A big hang up was some cabinet fronts had to be replaced which took 5 months to get, now I know things are taking a while but I believe they were never ordered by conversations I have had with Andrew. Finally got them after they dropped off at front door and we are installing well because no one ever follow up to install or come back to. Turns out they are not correct but we have to make due. But in the end Century Kitchens and Bath have walked away from this job unfinished. I would say the construction team was great and I do love my kitchen but make me sad too of all the trouble I have had. My advice is always check references verbally about how company did start to finish. And don’t pay all the big money toward the front and middle spread it out more at the end. We spent over 50K on the remodel and it is horrible that Century Kitchens and Bath have walked away, there is no more money to be made here. All they care about is going where the money is…. I hope this never has to happen to anyone else…..And never ever ever use Century Kitchens and Bath….ever

We spent over $40k plus premium materials fully renovating our master bathroom. We later discovered the electrical was not upgraded for our shower to properly function. This was a $1,300 fix that Steve refused to make right. We took him to court, won a judgement and are still being strung out. It’s about the principal and ethics as to why I write this review, I wouldn’t want another person spending hard earned money to a company that doesn’t follow through on their contracts and word.

Response from Century Kitchens & Bath
"Dear Mr. [Member Name Removed], We are terribly sorry and apologize for your unhappiness with our services to the point of giving us an "F". You have unfairly posted this review without addressing your concerns with us in person. We did everything within our power to address any and all issues you may have had with us during the actual process of the remodeling job. The owner of Century Kitchens even visited your home and you were satisfied at that time. Your designer followed up with you during the entire process and at completion and has records on her texts that her responsiveness to your concerns was top-notch and expedient. It was very unfair of you to post an "F" on your scores for Century Kitchens. If there is anything else we can do for you please do not hesitate to call our owner, Steve Donato, at 847-395-3418."

They’ve got a large selection of handles on display, which really helped (we wanted to actually see and feel the handles, not just look at pictures on the internet). We worked with their designer Mary Leben, who is awesome. Not only did she patiently guide us through the bewildering choice of cabinet handles, she also gave us great advice on other aspects of the remodel. In the end, we wound up retaining her design services, and also bought three bathroom mirrors, which Century delivered and installed – they look great! We can’t say enough about how helpful and talented Mary is. We only wish that we had found Century in the beginning, if we had, we definitely would have chosen them for the entire remodel.

We were pleased with the project, and our kitchen looks really good now. It's SO much better than it was, and we're glad that we had the work done. Century did a good job. Our designer, Tiffany, was very responsive to our calls and emails. She was on top of our every question. The calendar of months she generated for us was spot on. They didn't work every day straight at the project, but they stayed with the calendar. We had a glitch regarding their misunderstanding our preference with some duct work during the project, but it was resolved. Both the kitchen and mudroom look really, really good, and the work was very neatly done. The guys they used to do our natural stone tile backsplash were excellent with the painstaking job of laying out the pattern, carefully considering each individual piece. After the project was finished, Century returned to resolve a problem we had with two of the recessed lights and with one of the cabinet doors. It was extremely convenient having ONE company handle the whole project. Project management was simplified greatly. Some caveats: Be CLEAR with them on what you want and don't want done; it's YOUR house. Do your research ahead of time in terms of what colors, cabinet style, and look you want. They will do it in whatever colors, styles, etc. that YOU want. You just tell them what you want. Go with the highest quality cabinets they carry; we had to do so and even add many upgrades just to get what some other places would consider standard. Enjoy! The value of your house will go up!

The project was a success. The designer helped provide a design plan that worked well for the space. She was very professional and easy to work with. The crew was very courteous and professional every time they worked on the kitchen. I couldn't have asked for better people to work on the remodel. They were very detail oriented and worked hard to get the project finished in a timely manner. The only negative is on a couple of occasions, I was told someone would stop by to either check on something or drop something off, which didn't end up happening. I ended up waiting around on those occasions and no one showed up. It was rare, and the rest of the job went very well. No shows are just a pet peeve of mine. I expect someone to be there when they say they are going to be there. Overall, I was very pleased with the end result and would definitely hire Century Kitchens & Bath again.

Randi, our designer, was very helpful in picking out our products and helped us stay within our budget. Paul was the lead on the construction; he and Gannon were ALWAYS on time and professional. Their work quality is first rate! We could not be happier with the craftsmanship that went into this project. The bathroom looks great and I would not change one thing in it! I would definitely go back to Century Kitchens & Bath for my next project. Very easy place to work with, and I always felt their main goal was making sure that we were happy with the final product.

The end result of the remodel on most items are how we envisioned it. We love the final product. Here is a summary of the experiences: - Tiffany, our designer, really helped us understand how we could use the space differently. She was a great advocate for helping us to resolve the installation challenges we experienced. I would recommend her design services. - The installer had tons of issues. He was a subcontractor. He was not punctual, some days didn't come at all when he said he would, and there was no schedule adherence. The days he did work, at most he would work 4-5 hours. When he was onsite, he was on his phone more than a teenage girl in the 80's. I recommend asking if they plan on using a subcontractor and if so, how they plan to manage the work and schedule. - After the project was completed, we thought about how we would use one of the cabinets differently. We expected to pay a reasonable fee for the additional order of a door panel. The quote we got back included a "distance" fee. This seemed silly since this company was at our LOCAL Direct Buy looking for customers in this area. Given the heartburn we had with the installation, paying a "distance" fee didn't sit right with us. - Now that it's winter and we're using our custom heated floor, I'm constantly reminded about our terrible installation issues. The subcontractor took short cuts with the measurement of the CUSTOM heated floor. We paid for custom and I expected the entire floor (minus transitions, etc) to be heated. The subcontractor did not include having the heating coils underneath your feet at the toilet area. So now, every day, as my toes are ice, I'm reminded of this terrible overall experience. It couldn't have cost that much more to include a couple more inches of heating coils. - There were so many items left 1/2 done that the owner finally got involved and had some of his staff crew take over. I appreciated this gesture. Additionally, there were other items that were 'made right' given the length of the project and experiences. These were also very appreciated.

I have no dislike. They are very responsive. They do good quality work. They follow through on their commitments. If you have any issues at all, you make one phone call and they are out to resolve whatever the issue is. It's a fantastic company to deal with. The work turned out really well. My interaction them was very positive. I would absolutely use them in the future.

Century Kitchens and Bath remodeled our bathrooms and did quite a fantastic job.  From inception to finished product?they do it all.  Randi was very patient with us during the design phase.  It took us a few months to get the entire design together as we were working on three baths and this couple doesn?t always agree on colors/tile, etc ;-).  Randi was great about letting us know if our ideas may not be the best and was great about providing a better alternative.  The entire Century team ? plumbers, electricians, carpenters and tile installers ? did such a wonderful job and they take great pride in what they do.  Century Kitchens and Bath is a first class operations and were very competitively priced.   We are very happy with the finished product.

It started out good with Andrew as our designer. He did a great job helping us choose cabinets, tile, colors, etc. The work started about a month later than when I was told, but I was in no big rush. The initial tiling etc was done quite well ,but then things went downhill. It turned out one of the electrical outlets wasn't centered after the new vanity was put in. So, the new mirrors did not fit. It was finally agreed that they could trim the mirror frames so they would fit. But, the trimmed frames now showed large divots where the screw holes had been drilled. So again, after considering numerous ways to cover that up, I decided to have them just putty it, and hoped no one but me would notice. There was also an issue with the new tub drain not working right, and then a crack in the shower tile developed. So now it is the end of August, and all I want done is the three items I just covered. By Thansgiving it still wasn't done!!! I talked to the owner who acted like this was wrong and they would be out soon to fix it. They then sent me a survey to see how I liked their work, but it still wasn't done!!! ( by the way I. Raped them on their own survey, thinking they would react----response---Nothing). By Christmas!!!, it still wasn't touched! But alas, before New Years they actually came out and sort of finished. So, a very simple project that was to be done in June, was finished in December, and the initial quote of $15-17,000 dollars worked its way up to over $20,000 dollars. They will not be doing any more remodeling at my house! I bent over backwards being "nice" about all this, giving them chances to make me happy. Didn't happen....I made numerous calls to the company throughout this event, always being dumb enough to think they would respond. I guess all their other projects had a far higher priority than mine!!! And finally, I wasn't going to tell my story on Angie's List, figuring it happens on most projects, that didn't happen either. Thanks for listening!!!

If your ONLY considerations are getting decent work done at an average price, I would say that  there is no problem using Century Kitchen and Bath.  The work done is all good quality and the actual workers did a good job.  Problems?  Timeliness - I signed the first check in August of 2013 and just got the final inspection sign off January 23, 2014.  At the beginning I was assured that this would be about a 4 week job which is pretty normal for this project and bath size.  Fortunately this was a guest bathroom and not the only one in the house.  Lack of communication - an actual example: One week the designer called on Tuesday and said that the tile guys would be here on Thursday morning, as well as her and the worker who was doing most of the work, and the bath glass installer would be here between 9 - 11 on Friday.  Thursday morning  NO ONE showed up and no phone calls.  The bath glass people did come on Friday, but at 12:30 and again no phone call about the delay.  The tile guy came over with no notice the next week and reported to me that Century Bath and Kitchen had pulled him off my job the previous week and then assigned him for the day he showed up.  His side of the story was that the designer said she would call me about these changes.  If this was the ONLY time this happened, I would say that all of us make mistakes, but this is VERY representative of the whole job.  I don't know the reasons for this since I read a number of good past reviews about this company, but whatever the reason, I would NOT go anywhere near them again.  I did try to talk to the designer about this issue and even suggest some solutions, and that worked for a short time, but not in the long run.  If I was rating Paul, the workman who did most of the work, this would be a much  better review.
