"The salesman, John, promised us we would lose only an inch of glass around the edges of our windows because the pocket window would fit mostly below the sill. When the measurer arrived, he told us that the window was too wide to fit below the sill, and would have to be installed higher, losing 4-5 inches of glass. Disappointed, we went ahead with installation. The installers arrived on time, but they brought windows with full screens instead of half screens. When I reread our contract, I saw that John had written it for half screens only in the livingroom rather than on all windows as we had specified. That part was our fault for assuming the contract was written the way we wanted and not carefully rereading it. Lesson learned! The windows were installed well, sealed properly and work beautifully--a huge improvement over our old, drafty ones. The next problem was the half screens. About 6 weeks after installation, Maureen called to tell us that our half screens had arrived, but they were the wrong size. She would reorder and let us know when they arrived. Two months later, not having heard from Maureen, we called. Oh yes, the screens were in, sorry they didn't call. Installation was scheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday arrives, the installers arrive and tell us they have the wrong style of half screen, it'll have to be reordered. We call Maureen, complain, receive no apology, she'll talk to the installers and reorder the correct style, it'll take 1-2 weeks. She'll call me when they come in. Altho we like our Wasco windows and would even get them again, this kind of customer service is really annoying. Wasco needs to train some of their employees more thoroughly so everyone has the same information and orders are done right the first time."

"Will worked efficiently and meticulously! He was polite and respected my property. He installed the window and sliding glass door working alone. He completed the project and cleaned up when the job was finished! Great experience!"

"There are many good things that need to be said about Empire Home Remodeling. To begin the process, I selected three local window vendors. All three came to our house to explain their product line. We do not buy solely on price alone. Empire had the most professional presentation of the three we considered and we felt no high pressure from the sale rep. Price wise they offered the best product of the vendors at what we felt was a fair price . We were able to purchase triple pane glass for the same price the others were offering for double pane glass, plus some additional benefits. Windows came with a transferable lifetime warranty. This can be a benefit when selling ones property. We felt confident that the measurements were accurate as they double checked before the window order was placed. There were willing to work to our schedule as we had some major issues confronting us when it came time for the install. When it came time for installation the installer on our project was very concerned that all things were done right. He was very neat and left our premises in great shape.. We feel we made the right decision because if we had a question of any type, Empires owner, Melissa, dealt with it herself. We did not have to deal with a list of people in order to get an answer. We felt this to be very reassuring. We also came to realize the owner visits each job site to ensure that quality work is being performed. Richard Overall, Empire Home Remodeling is a company I would strongly recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"I unknowingly set up a request for new window installation. .After Paul arrived, he immediately set me straight and told me what I actually need is to replace the window sashes, which is a service he does not provide. Paul provided me with the information that I needed to make my next service request. Paulâ s knowledge and honesty will save me tens of thousands of dollars. I appreciate the friendly service and advice. I would not hesitate contacting them for future projects."

"Great estimate-misunderstand on part of job-came through in the clutch We thought the pricing was great considering we believed we were looking at high quality products. Dan was the estimator and was very helpful in making suggestions about pricing and options. Product had to be ordered and we were told it would be 6-8 weeks which actually only took 3-4. Doors installation timing was estimated at 2 days only took 1. Very immaculate clean up. Window was installed 2 days later and took only one day. We were thrilled with the quality. However, the bay service staining and varnishing were not included in the price of the job. We were not told this during the quote process and I was upset because we should have been given the opportunity to ask other quote providers if they included staining and varnishing as part of the project bid process. They felt I should have known I was responsible for staining and varnishing. I was expecting a factory finish for he bay services and trim. Things got a bit rocky in the discussion and I was very clear that no one told me that it was not a turnkey application Story has a HAPPY ending. HomeSealed hired a stain/varnish contractor at their expense in order to meet my expectations. We will be replacing a patio sliding glass door next spring and every expectation of using them again for this process."

"Weather Tight installed glass doors that they knew and told me were defective. Re-ordering them several times from the manufacturer resulted in 5 panels being ordered. BEFORE unblemished/correctly made doors were installed, they demanded payment. I was forced to pay before the job was done. Moreover, it took ordering nine or more panels from the manufacturer of replacement door--and one full year--to get the job done! They kept using the same manufacturer that the salesman claimed was local and exclusive to Weather Tight, which was not true. Turns out that you can get the same doors from competitors of Weather Tight for less money. Had it not been for the fact that they finally got the job done without a law suit, I would have given them an "F"."

"We have not started our project yet, we have just contracted them to replace 2 large picture windows on our house. Alec came to our home to give us a quote and was extremely thorough in explaining the product options they have available. We were very impressed with his extensive knowledge. He spent much more time with us than the other company we received a quote from. Alec saved us some money by recommending only partial reframing. I had assumed because of rotted wood on the sills that the entire window frame would have to be replaced, but he determined that was not necessary in our case. He was very personable and the company seems trustworthy. We are excited to work with Empire on our home improvement project!"

FAQs for glazier service projects in Delafield, WI

The cost to repair a window is $400 on average, with prices ranging from $75 to $1,500, depending on the window size, the broken part, and the window type. Broken glass and window frames are typically the most expensive window repairs, while minor fixes like repairing the track, seal, and sash are more affordable. Other cost factors include:

  • Number of panes

  • Window material

  • Accessibility

  • Labor costs

  • Emergency window repair

If you have a problem with your window, such as broken glass, minor leaks, or a problem with your window being stuck, repairing the broken part might be a cheaper option than replacing the entire window. However, if you have a deteriorating window frame or major leaks, buying a new window will be the better long-term solution.

Stained glass window repairs cost about $300 on average. Typical prices range from $65 to $800, depending on the size, location, repairs needed, and whether you need to fully or partially replace the window. Full stained glass window replacements can cost $700 to $5,000 per panel. The repair type also impacts repair costs:

  • Crack: $100–$300

  • Faded glass: $100–$300

  • Regrouting: $200–$500

  • Cement replacement: $200–$500

  • New window frame: $200–$500

  • Cleaning: $300–$600

  • Resoldering joints: $500–$1,500

  • Replacing reinforcing bars: $700–$3,000

Window replacement costs between $180 and $410 per window, or an average of $280 per window. However, your specific replacement job could cost as little as $100 or as much as $750. Factors such as frame material, the number of windows you need, and the type of glass you order all impact the overall cost. For example, simple double-glazed windows will cost $3 to $6 per square foot, but the stronger tempered glass ranges from $12 to $14 per square foot.

The type of window repairs required significantly impacts the project cost. It’s always best to hire a local window repair company for this kind of work. The most common window parts that need repair include:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Replace window screen: $140–$480
