"The staff seem to be really good and professional people. The reason for my 2-star rating is that the work done simply didn't deliver on expectations of durability. There are sections of my driveway where nearly all of the seal coating came off in less than 9 months, so I am going to have to re-do the job myself. This is not what I had in mind when I paid over $1,100 (a fair price, if it would have lasted longer). I understand that the work isn't covered anymore, as I didn't report it until the thaw revealed so much was missing, and I'm not upset with Merit or their staff. I am simply very disappointed that it didn't even last 1 year. Images here: [*** Link removed ***] [*** Link removed ***]"

The size of your driveway apron will vary based on your town's building codes. On average, they range between 12 and 24 feet wide and eight to 15 feet long. One end of the apron usually matches the width of the driveway—10 to 12 feet wide for a single-car driveway—while the street end flares out to allow cars to turn in and out.

Gravel driveways are the most economical driveway material, followed pretty closely by asphalt and concrete. Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

Driveway paving costs around $4,500 on average, but depending on many factors, you could pay anywhere from $2,500 to $6,600 or more. The size of your driveway will usually be the most significant factor, with more square footage increasing your costs. You can expect to pay between $2 and $15 per square foot for paving services. Some other factors that play a role include the following:
