"Everything turned out fine. When it first arrived, it was damaged in the shipping. It took them quite a while to get something back to us, or even to call me back when I wrote to them. But then, once they got the ball rolling, it went very quickly. It took them probably about a month to even get back to me. The price was very good. Do you know how it is when you take your car to a mechanic to fix a certain and quot;thingand quot; that is happening and then can't recreate that and quot;thing.and quot; After the job was completed and Al, the electrician was taking us on an inspection tour, we turned on our second dehumidifyer on the other end of the basement only to have the circuit breaker pop---not the one just installed. After reset and turning off the dehumidifyer, the basement light brightned so we think we have finally hit and quot;paydirtand quot; in figuring out what is going on here. We were delighted that a certified electrician got to see this.
He explained that both of our dehumidifyers draw 7.5amps and the circuits are only 15amp so with a few light bulbs burning it can overload when the dehumidifyer kicks on. We will probably have him back to do another dedicated circuit, however, we will first check to see if we can purchase a dehumidifyer that does not pull so many amps. Maybe we are on to something here regarding lowering our electric bill and overfilling the landfill with old dehumidifyers (yes, I have a thing about that)
