"They were on time, they were friendly and explained what they were doing and the job was difficult and challenging and they returned to get it done. It was a 2 day project that turned into 3 and they even came to work on it on a Saturday."

"Great! Sean and Brad showed up at 8:00 a.m. and got right to it. They listened to what I wanted and made suggestions on the best way to do it. They know what they're doing and they have the equipment to do it right. I was impressed by their hard work and effort to make the job look great, so I've hired them to pour a second slab for me next week!"

"Quality was good. He was quick to give a piece but he never came out to the house to inspect. Even tho there was almost a month between the phone price and the proposal price. Then I was charged an extra $500.00 for the tight work conditions. He did gravel for an entra drive and both my wife and I discussed this with him and he agreed to bring it to the property line. When the job was done the gravel was 1 foot short of the property line and when I contacted him I was told they needed to leave a space for drainage. The concrete patio did turn out great. I would suggest if you use him make sure he looks at the site prior to the estimate. Timing was ok he finished 3 days later then he said so not bad. I would recommend him based on the quality of the concrete work."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Cutting stone comes with a number of safety hazards. First and foremost, if you’re not comfortable with the equipment required to cut stone, including blades and grinders, you could easily injure yourself. The heavy machinery also poses a risk to your ears if you don’t wear proper ear protection; similarly, you need to wear eye protection to keep debris from irritating your eyes.

However, the biggest risk from cutting stone comes from the stone dust. When breathed in, stone dust can be a huge hazard to your lungs. Always wear a face mask when cutting stone to prevent inhaling stone dust, and thoroughly clean the work area when you are finished.

To avoid injury, we recommend hiring a stone-cutting professional, rather than attempting this job yourself.

Brick is the closest choice when seeking to capture the timeless look of stone with a more practical and budget-friendly option. When comparing stone versus brick siding, the price range of $200,000 to $400,000 for average brick home construction is dramatically lower compared to the cost of building a stone home. If you'd like to keep the stone aesthetic without the cost, stone veneer and manufactured stone are both less expensive than real stone.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

A traditional rectangular brick that is used for siding, brick walks, and pathways is 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. If you are shopping for fire bricks, the standard dimension is typically 9 inches long by 4.5 inches wide.

You may not need a hammer drill if you’re planning on drilling one or two very small diameter holes in brick. For holes with a diameter of 3/16-inch or less, a regular drill with a masonry bit can do the job. However, the bit will heat up quickly, and the process will take significantly longer than with a hammer drill. Prepare to cool your drill bit down in a bucket of water more often.
