With several years experience, we work hard to bring each customer the best possible service and quality available. We look forward to working with you on your next project. We welcome your questions and thank you for your interest.

"We hired this company to grade our back yard and install 2 drains. In April, 2018 he gave us a quote and we accepted it and gave Mr Eggleston 1/2 down expecting the work to be done sometime in the near future. We called him several times to find out when he would be here to do it. It is now October and too late for anything to be done. We asked him for our deposit back nearly 2 weeks ago and we still haven't received it back."

Shear Concrete LLC a family owned and opertated Concrete Contractor business for over 50 years. Located in Beloit WI. Shear Concrete LLC strives to do the best quality work at reasonable rates.

"It can be difficult  to find any contractor, involving a  homeowner service of any technical nature or  aesthetic importance that truly is impressive.   Well, we found one.   His firm is all any homeowner could hope for …  and more.   He’s incredibly reliable, when so many vendors are not.   He explains things clearly and stands by his promises.   He’s courteous to a fault. More than courteous, he’s genuinely friendly and outgoing…, in every respect a pleasure to deal with.   Important in terms of why we hired Shear Concrete, Trent has a conspicuous pride in his customer service and quality of workmanship. It’s far beyond what any homeowner reasonably could expect … and it’s at absolute the highest level.   Equally impressive, Trent‘s  service is provided at a fair price and precisely what the consumer was promised.   The workmanship was spectacular. Many contractors would think that a sidewalk simply is, well, “a sidewalk”. Not to Trent. His design AND workmanship are special … superb actually. Drive by and see for yourself … our Beloit address is below. Large brick house on Milwaukee Road, one lot short of Chapin.   Our crowning compliment is that we were so pleased with Shear Concrete’s work and friendly and businesslike approach that we immediately retained the company for ANOTHER PROJECT.   Anyone seeking more information is free to call Alan Truesdale @ 608.530.2893 Our address is 726 Milwaukee Road.   My best, Alan Truesdale"

Full service asphalt paving contractor, small enough to be personal yet large enough to get the job done.

"McCauley Asphalt Contracting has NOT done work in a timely manner. We hired them in June 2019 to blacktop our driveway, extend a parking pad, add a new parking pad, and lower the slope at the end of our driveway. Despite repeated call from us and broken promises from them, they finally arrived in Oct 2019. BUT, they left the final coating of blacktop until “next spring,” of 2020. We accepted their delay because of COVID, and were told they’d be here mid-July. Now, late July, they’ve said it’ll be mid-August. Stay far away! We have already paid over $4800 for an incomplete job. Very angry and frustrated."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

You should have at least 4 to 6 inches of compactable base under your concrete slab. Your contractor may recommend more depending on the structure.

Most standard concrete patios are around 4 inches deep. However, concrete patios that need to support very heavy items, like a hot tub or outdoor kitchen, should be around 6 inches thick to support the full weight of these items. You'll also want to make sure you install rebar for patios that need to support a lot of weight like this.

Concrete discoloration is when some or all of the concrete has a different color than its intended shade. It could be dirty, stained, or have issues from installation, such as improper curing or inconsistent finishing. You can fix concrete discoloration in various ways, such as cleaning the surface, painting it, or resurfacing it. To prevent concrete discoloration, hire a pro who has experience with your type of project, whether it’s a garage floor, patio, or porch.

The easiest way to handle extra-wet cement is to pour it, let it harden, and then recycle it using one of the methods above. You can also crush it down and sell it for base materials, although this can be pretty time-consuming. Your best bet is to start with less concrete than you need and make more as you go to avoid this problem.

It’s possible to pour concrete if the temperatures are expected to dip below freezing at night, but you need to take some special precautions before you do. Most importantly, you need to make sure your concrete won’t freeze, so the best thing to do is enclose the area and heat it. You should also make sure you’re using cold-weather concrete that’s designed for pouring in cold weather. Use accelerants to help speed up the curing process and avoid cold temperatures from resulting in weak concrete.
