Customers say: Quick response

"Workers did not seem familiar with replacing storm damaged ceiling drywall and insulation in double wide mobile home. Workers cut and caused short two places in electrical wiring. H&K hired an electrician to cut into the new ceiling, find and repair the damaged wires. H&K did an excellent job repairing the new ceiling and applying popcorn finish coat. The job looks great and they charged the price quoted even though it took longer to complete."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Plaster provides a durable, soundproof, and moisture-resistant finish compared to drywall.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.

Regular inspections and cleaning to prevent moisture or pest issues.
